“Talent just defines what you do,” Rincewind said. “It doesn’t define what you are. Deep down, I mean. When you know what you are, you can do anything.”

He thought a bit more and added, “That’s what makes sourcerers so powerful. The important thing is to know what you really are.”

There was a pause full of philosophy.

    “Rincewind?” said Conina, kindly.

“Hmm?” said Rincewind, who was still wondering how the words got into his head.

“You really are an idiot. Do you know that?”

    -Terry Pratchett, Sourcery

I don’t think I’m a very good DM, but all of my players ask me for DM tips when they’re doing another game or one-shotting or whatever, so maybe?

Most people just want to be able to roll dice and have fun with friends. Some will also enjoy the roleplaying. As a DM you just need to show up and have some resemblance of a plan or willingness to let them go off the rails and make shit up. That’s all that a “good” DM is.

And if anyone ever expects you to be matt fucking Mercer then tell they better be sam riegel or gtfo.

Asking a question, then immediately leaving… Who the hell starts a conversation like that!?

Feels like it. They’re called journeymen because after you apprentice you journey, man. I’m always going to someone’s house to play

It’s gotten to the point I’m researching DM travel bags. Any suggestions?

I was gifted the “Enhance Tabletop RPG Adventurer’s Bag” the battle map straps are my favorite feature. 4 campaign books, a DM screen, and a note pad pretty much fill the main compartment. I always try to cram in more and the zippers haven’t busted on me yet!
