I haven’t followed this software and company before, what do you mean, what is the catch?
Adobe doesn’t offer any of its software for free except acrobat reader, where you get nagged about paid features constantly, but it’s easy to ignore.
Why shouldn’t I recommend this over cracked Photoshop? Its features seems like closer to PS than Gimp or Krita.

You can embed this way:

Voila:

Tap on the triple dot next to a file, first option

Total commander was never open source, even though it’s freeware.

Fossify looks similar, but it misses some crucial features I use frequently. I downloaded it now to check it, Material can do these things, while Fossify can’t:

MaterialFiles can connect to ftp, sftp, webdav and smb. It has a text editor. There is built in image viewer and music player in most roms nowadays, and MaterialFiles has an “open with” option where you can select what you want to do with a file.

ES File Explorer was very good at the beginning, but it enshittified quickly. Nowadays MaterialFiles is the best file explorer for Android, and it has more features than ES had ever. And it’s open source so it can’t have a similar fate. Google Play link, F-droid link

My similar turning point was when they shut down Google Reader in 2013. Never forget.
Where did you search for it? Literally one of the first result is this thread: https://xdaforums.com/t/rom-unofficial-9-0-0-lineageos-16-0-20210211.3927650/
And there is Google Drive link there, with all the roms and tools and kernels for this device: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1EGoOaxMZZZFrRiDqdjhmVlSho-GfMiof

I don’t watch videos where someone has an open mouth on the thumbnail.

Wtf man, developers are also people. Most of them doing this for free in their free time. You are the kind of entitled user who makes foss devs burn out. Never thought I will find one in the wild.
I use krita frequently and never met your bug so it’s not as recreatable or important as you think.
Noone forces you to use krita. If it doesn’t fit your workflow or if you think developers are deliberately sabotaging your work, you can switch to another free or paid alternative. If you would switch to a paid one, you could speak to a manager.
In op’s case I’m not sure it’s a you problem. In your case I’m sure it is.

Are you sure not just the defaults changed? Or isn’t it a problem on your end? On the project page the screenshot looks like the old version: https://invent.kde.org/graphics/arianna
Have you contacted the developers? They have a matrix chat. Maybe you found a bug, and it would help others if you would report it.

No, I’m not defending google. I’m saying this news does not fit this community, as it’s not about privacy. You can do bad, evil, illegal things a lot other ways, not just against privacy, I think this is mostly against consent and copyright.
I love lemmy because you have different communities for different topics. I hate users who post randomly to unrelated communities. It messes up my ocd.

Remuxing or resizing a video is also a violation? Because yt does that to all videos. A 4k nature movie looks different in 360p. From a technological point of view the 2 process (ai sharpening and changing to a resolution where new pixels have to be calculated via some filter) is not that different, an algorithm modifies the picture and calculates new pixels. Would you ban upscaling in televisions, because they violate the authentic connection between the the artist and the audiance? Hell, colorized photographs destroy the remaining privacy of photographers who died years ago.
The point is you rarely see a video as it was created by someone, so your generalization is not applicable to this case. And it’s still not about privacy, you just redifined the meaning of copyright and some kind of indentity theft. Which shouldn’t happen, but still a different topic.

But it’s a public video. They deliberately uploaded to make it public. Whose privacy was at stake in this story?

Wait. The point of the unbelievable amount of telemetry you can’t even disable was to collect info in situations like this. Right? Why is there telemetry if they have to ask?
Edit: title of the article is a bit misleading, as I obviously commented before reading the article.
The “another” company they are in contacting is Phison, the manufacturer of thr affected controllers, so it doesn’t sound as bad as from the title

I’m not familiar with youtube TOS, but knowing google has a lot of lawyers I suspect there is a section where you allow them to do such experiments on your videos. The creators uploaded the videos there, they could choose not to upload. Who spied on who in this story?

Yes I know, but there are other problems with .ml. But I’m not directly affected because I don’t comment about politics.
Most .ml communities have active alternatives on other instances, last time I checked this community was the only active on privacy topics, but it seems like others catching up
Also QuickShare is not an Android feature, it’s Google Play Services (GMS) feature, it doesn’t work on degoogled android phones.
Here is the issue about implementing it in microG: https://github.com/microg/GmsCore/issues/1272
