The City of Evanston has shut down its network of automated license plate readers and will end its contract with vendor Flock Safety early after a state audit found the company was illegally sharing Illinois data with federal agencies.

    There was a push to ban speed cameras statewide in GA this year. It was close, but didn’t pass. I was really hopeful for it because it doesn’t make sense for a lot of reasons as well as being a privacy nightmare for some of the same reasons (it comes down to the private companies that are contracted to do it). Here’s hoping what happened here will cause a for bans in more places.
