I’m in the same boat. I do not like defederation. So where do we go? Any other instance with the same openness? I don’t know details about instances, but I know I’d like to avoid .world though.

They’ve never done to Iran what they did to the other six of the infamous seven that the Bushies planned to dismantle. I suspect that that war game is a factor in that decision. This thing with the Houthis serves to refresh their memories I guess. At least I hope. Who knows, with this admin, anything can happen
AreaSIX @lemm.eeto Linux@lemmy.ml•I have used Windows all my life, and I have some questions.1·2 months agoI recently tried switching to mint from the dark side, but the instability made me go back to Windows. I’d say everything doesn’t ‘just work’ on mint at all, unless you have the most basic needs in your usage. Whenever I’ve tried to raise the issues with seasoned Linux user, the answer has been “well, most regular people don’t need to do that specific thing”.
So if it’s true that Mint is the only Linux distro that “just works”, then Linux is definitely not even close to being suitable as a mainstream choice. Which really saddens me, as I felt much better on a moral level using mint, but I couldn’t live with the little annoyances that kept popping up. So now I live with the annoyances that pop up in windows instead .

What is the weirdest thing about America that Americans don't realize is weird?4·9 months agoNo replies on the holding the door and smiling being the sign of a swindler? That actually sounds like you live in an exceptionally hostile place. I’m swedish, as in people not exactly known for showing a lot of warmth to each other in public, and I always hold the door, and smile at people very often. The smiling part might be somewhat unusual here in Sweden too, but not unusual as in bad or a sign of a swindler. Most people seem to appreciate these behaviors. Either that or I’m absolutely delusional and everyone secretly views me as a swindler ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Here I thought I was ancient because it was combat. Seems like there are many of us old farts around here.

I don’t know how to express myself unless through anger and personal attacks!”
Germany has supplied 30% of Israel s weapons, and has continued to do so during this ongoing genocide. If Germany or the US were to acknowledge the ongoing genocide, they’d have to stop supplying those arms immediately, hence stopping the annihilation of Gaza. So it’s of immense importance to keep repeating what most of the world already acknowledges: this is a genocide, and those arming the perpetrators are complicit in their crimes. History will not judge Germany kindly, but I guess that’s not exactly a new thing for a veteran perpetrator of genocide.
Nuance doesn’t seem to be their strong suit
