AI & AGI have me kinda terrified because of how we worship the rights of ownership especially in America.

Some major company will own the AI/AGI and will have the right to all of the profits it generates. Combining AGI with the advancements of robotics, pretty much any job that could justify the expenditure of the robot and AGI will be eliminated. With how we treat the rights of ownership and with how the ownership class sees the rest of humanity, the only future I see is a future where “we have too many people” is the only conversation and not because we can’t feed them or house them, but because there isn’t enough work for them to “earn their own living.” The ownership class will never accept “giving” anything away to help people that “aren’t productive.” You’re not a human, you’re a profit generating labor machine.

There is actually some evidence that musk was unfortunately successful at reaching some of these people. There was a lot of talk about “strange” ballots that only voted for Trump and nothing else, usually called “bullet ballots.” Well apparently part of musks outreach plan was getting to low propensity voters and telling them “don’t worry if it’s confusing, don’t worry about knowing the candidates, the only thing we need is a vote for Trump and he’ll fix everything.”

It seems like it worked out for them… :(

I was always pretty interested in geology, but I knew that the only secure work would be for oil companies so I never went for the degree…

I was always really interested in gems and minerals, but admiring them isn’t a job, and photography in that field is insanely specialized and not exactly a reasonable goal to shoot for, so I never got that degree…

I was also always really interested in astronomy, but there’s literally no work in that field at all so I didn’t go for the degree…

I never “found myself” because all of my interests either has you working for “the enemy” or there just weren’t any jobs to be had. Now I’m stuck working in a factory and I have an upcoming job that’s for the Israeli military…

My friend is on one of the teams working on that so I suppose I’ll know soon enough if they’re gutting that portion. So far he hasn’t said anything, so here’s hoping they’re safe!

I have a coworker that does this and he’s the type that not talking is literally impossible for him…

If he even walks anywhere near a conversation he has to insert himself into it and talk. He hangs out near another coworker usually and when that guy gets asked a question the annoying one will always start talking over the guy who was asked… He’s not even in the same role.

He’s otherwise a nice guy and all, but holy shit is he one of the most annoying people I’ve ever met…

Putting all of that aside this fucking administration is saying “we shipped someone out of the country we can’t do anything.” And the country we shipped him to is saying “the US pays us to keep people here, there’s nothing we can do about it.” Stephen Miller says “anyone spreading hate about America will be deported.” So freedom of speech is dead and once you’re gone there’s no coming back. Not a bunch of fascists at all though.
