The ADHD.
Hyperfocus makes me ramble. I’ve also dedicated an enormous amount of time to an abundance of different “talents” and skills.
It can make people around me feel like “normies”, which is not a self-compliment but an admission of social unawareness.
I’ve made a concerted effort over the last decade to remind myself to listen intently when people are talking and be aware of my potential to monopolize a conversation. I feel like it’s helped a lot. Connecting with people is important to my mental health. Its always been difficult but its getting easier as I grow older and pay attention to these things.
Contact or Big Trouble In Little China. Love those movies.
What if its directed at my cat?
Not to mention the metal hook lock on most room doors I’ve seen that can prevent anyone from entering while you’re still inside.
Interdimensional Cable from Rick and Morty is outrageous. GTA’s radio stations (VCPR was the best) and TV shows are often really funny. The Pißwasser beer commercial from IV always gets me.
“Two men say they’re Jesus. One of 'em must be wrong!” - Mark Knopfler, “Industrial Disease”, Love Over Gold (1982) - Dire Straits
Fair enough.
For me personally, I love having technology from right before the explosion of Bluetooth integration. For example, I have stereo receivers and other sets of speakers that require that 3.5mm jack for input. Not having that jack on my current phone (Pixel 8) has made it more annoying to use these devices. Also, I still have an iPod Classic that I used to use exclusively in the car but now I have to carry it around more so it can be used with my old stereos.
Also, I can’t stand the bluetooth latency; especially in the car. If I’m parked having lunch somewhere, I can’t watch a video without a terrible audio desync.
I still value the 3.5mm jack.
You haven’t given your reasoning. You’re given nothing to “come at”.
Of all the current media subscription services, this is the one I have no issue paying for. The service I get for the money I pay is appropriate. I’ve taken my own measures to limit the amount of PII that Google can vacuum up from my life as well. I’m fine with them knowing what I like to watch and providing algorithmic recommendations for new content. I police said algorithm aggressively to ensure its always on topic and never trying to show me ragebait or shit I don’t want to see.
When the day comes that the cost outweighs the return I’ll stop paying for it and use Grayjay or Newpipe or whatever other option there is. If its a full on dystopia by then, well y’know what? I don’t need Youtube to survive. I’ll be fine without it.
You should look up the definition of the word “meme”.
Boom! /thread right here. This is a goooood one.
Mother Teresa would be out here looking like a zombie.
The Reddit hive mind behaviour is seeping through the cracks.
For me personally, the experience is allowed to take a hit, hell even a major hit, if the browser respects me as a user. FF seems to be better on that front although I’ll confess I use Vanadium on my phone. Its GrapheneOS’ default browser.
This is exactly what needs to be done. I too have been curating my YT feed for years. I don’t let anyone watch videos on my account and anything that is in conflict with the environment I want to maintain in my feed I simply don’t watch or sign into a burner account to watch.
Everyone else’s feeds are pure cancer compared to mine.
Police your algorithms, folks.
The RevStar is a nice guitar.
Enslaved is my favourite band and for me its a bit of a toss up between the albums ‘In Times’ and ‘Ruun’.
Before Enslaved took the top spot, it was Dissection’s ‘Storm Of The Light’s Bane’. Honorable mention for Opeth’s ‘Blackwater Park’.
Friend, there’s nothing wrong with enjoying extreme music. Its a bit weird when that’s all someone cares about, but many people have a healthy obsession with extreme music and you shouldn’t judge them for it.
I live next to a large open field in the middle of my city. I’d guess its about 15 acres. It’s beautifully undeveloped with a few paths through it. Lots of people use it to walk their dogs and stuff.
Why is it empty?
The land is contaminated. It used to be a rail yard about 50 years ago. A company in a major city hundreds of kilometers away owns it and as far as we know has no intention on scraping the top few feet off it so it can be rehabilitated.
Sucks to know that the land is poison but nobody’s growing stuff there. Many people enjoy it, including me and my wife. The view off my back deck is about 750m of green right smack in the middle of the city. Love it.
Use a card. NFC is not a necessity.
