Yeah I think I’ve seen that usage, but I’ve also seen it used as a negative put down rather than an affirmation. I just have a lot of trouble with this one for some reason. Anyone know where it comes from?

And every time I think I understand what people mean by it, I’m wrong. This one has got to stop.
I’m about to have this issue in about 10 hours. Are you older than 30? Cuz I really started feeling the pain after 30. I recently bought an awesome inflatable pillow that keeps my head upright, so I can maybe possibly sleep instead of just fidgeting and suffering through the whole flight. I feel your pain, internet stranger.
Also, constipation. It’s so hard to shit the day after flying. Most people don’t seem to have this issue.
Someone sticky this shit. Can we do that here? No? Well, that was an excellent answer.
Yeah, I honestly don’t know how la croix does it, but that water has serious flavor, without any of that gross chemical aftertaste. I drink so much la croix…
The interest rate is variable, it goes up and up and up. And to those suggesting I just refinance, oh I’ve tried. I’ve had three refinancing applications denied in the last month alone.
And any federal forgiveness would not apply to this private loan, so yeah, a decision I made when I was barely an adult will haunt me for the rest of my life.
Do not take out private student loans.
In 2005 the original balance on my only private loan was $30,000. After almost 20 years of $500 on time monthly payments, the balance is $37,000. Yes, you read that right.
This loan will be dragging me down, making my life difficult until I die. College wasn’t worth this bullshit.
I don’t know if there’s a name for it, but I definitely understand what you’re talking about. For me, the tingly calm feeling comes from the abrupt change between constant background white-noise and sudden quiet. I love love love that feeling. The moment after you turn off a loud fan, shutting off a car engine, when an ambulance siren finally stops, a jump cut between a loud action sequence in a movie and a normal scene. Even the moment when a song’s accompaniment drops out but a cappella vocals continue.
It’s a beautiful thing.
Edit: typo
Well, it’s completely acceptable in a world where people respect art, and also in a world where people are aware that Christianity wasn’t the world’s first religion, and that much of its symbology is based on paganism.
the specific part of the ceremony that caused the offense was, in fact, a scene depicting Dionysus, the Greek god of wine. It was reportedly based on The Feast of the Gods, a 17th century painting by Dutch artist Jan Harmensz van Biljert (source)
I actually just started Advair (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) a couple weeks ago, after decades of not wanting to deal with a maintenance inhaler. I was starting to need my rescue inhaler way too often so I went for it, and I’m surprised how awesome it’s been. It’s one puff of a weird-tasting powder twice a day, but I haven’t used my rescue inhaler a single time since I started it.
I think of government as a relatively recent adaptation for our some of our species’ less socially-harmonious impulses. Government makes formal our ability to gather in groups and come to a shared understanding, across diverse and often contradictory belief systems. Humans have always been really good at this, but modern governments and their accompanying bureaucracies take it to the next level. Sure we lose some efficiency, but that’s what happens when you’ve got massive populations.
I believe government is meant to take the place of the caretakers of old who would have been responsible for the well-being of the group. If you think of government as an extension of ourselves, the part that cares for the collective for the benefit of the individual, and vice versa, then it’s one of the most critical components of our survival as a species.
Ideally, government should provide everything that an individual cannot provide for themselves. If a person isn’t a builder, then government should provide a place to live. If a person isn’t a farmer, then government should provide enough food to survive on. If a person isn’t a doctor, then the government should provide medical care. And so on. All the essentials we need to live should be provided by the government, because the government is us.
I know you said to avoid the “just don’t connect it” advice, but I frankly think that’s your best bet without shelling out absurd amounts of money. I hate the concept of smart TVs, so like you I tried to find a reasonably priced dumb TV. Had zero luck. Instead, I bought a 55” Hisense TV (U8K) about 6 months ago, and have never once connected it to the internet. I think it’s technically a Google TV, but I wouldn’t know, since I just connect my devices to it, no internet necessary. It’s a gorgeous display with amazing picture quality. All the features are enabled, nothing was stuck behind an internet-wall. I don’t regret it.
I’m a big fan of SoundCore products. I’m currently using the Space Q45 which replaced my pair of Life Q30s which I used the hell out of. IMO the Life Q30s have slightly richer sound quality despite being quite a bit cheaper than the Q45s, but all of their over ear headphone are super super comfortable and have good noise cancellation.
My parents used to use AAA TripTiks to plan our trips. Granted this was decades ago in the olden days of paper maps, so I have no idea how good they still are, but apparently they still exist. Worth checking out.
I did a cross-country move about 8 years ago, and just planned each leg of the trip separately. I chose where I wanted to sleep, planned the route to get there, and then did the same for the next leg. There’s really no wrong way to do it as long as you connect the dots and go the way you want to.
