  • So something I tell my patients after they have had a surgery is that our goal with pain killers is to make the pain bearable rather than gone. Paracetamol is a great painkiller and helps opioids to work better. It’s also non addictive and provided you don’t take more than the packet recommends very safe.

For chronic pain the current thinking is it’s multifactorial, but basically your brain gets set with your pain threshold too low, there is also a huge psychological element to pain and therapy or things like CBT can be hugely beneficial.

For me paracetamol and codeine have been enough to manage all the pain I’ve had, the worst being when I fell off my bike and smashed my ribs (pretty sure I didn’t break any), luckily I’m in the 90% of people who can metabolise codeine to something more useful. Didn’t make the pain go away but meant I could breathe a full breath without flinching. Codeine at lower doses just makes me a bit drowsy and slow. Good for getting to sleep.

  • Sounds like you’re still working through depression to me. Be kind to yourself, give yourself time to heal and work through things, I’m glad you’ve found a therapist that’s a great step. Do you think you want to go back to the industry or could you be avoiding it subconsciously? Something that has helped me a lot is journaling, you can wipe down your goals and break them down into smaller goals if needed.

  • Phogs - simple puzzle platformer where you play an end of a 2 headed snake dog.

Lovers in a dangerous space time - share control of your spaceship to rescue cute animals. Take turns driving, manning the weapons or shields. Top down camera

Overcooked 1 and 2 - flammable chaotic cooking adventures. Top down camera.

Trine 1-4 are all pretty decent for some side scrolling puzzle action platforming.

Diablo 3 (on console as pc doesn’t have local for some stupid reason) is a great action RPG.

  • The first half was some of the best anime I’ve seen. Then it devolved into a by the numbers shonen complete with a magical school and “tests” with unnecessary action scenes. I was ultimately disappointed by it because the whole season didn’t live up to the amazingly high standard the first few episodes set. I still enjoyed it and would give it a solid recommendation but it gets worse as it goes on in my opinion. The first half where you are properly seeing the world through the eyes of someone ageless has that beautiful sadness I don’t think I’ve seen anywhere else.

  • Got myself some StepOne boxers, best undies I’ve ever owned no questions asked. Miles better than anything else I’ve worn, I’m incapable of going back to lesser pants now. They are made with bamboo fiber, have a low friction glide panel between your legs and have a pouch for the junk to sit in. They aren’t cheap but worth every penny in my opinion.

  • Once you’ve selected your target planet on the map (or select the planet by looking at it and pressing L3) you can then autopilot to the planet with up on the d-pad (tells you top left of the screen). Landing is a bit tricky but you can definitely just slam the ship into the ground, as the loops are short it’s not the end of the world if it gets beat up. Pressing square or x to activate the landing camera can help too.
