Douglas Adams writing doesn’t translate well to film I think, a bit like Pratchett’s. It can be done (Good Omens was a great adaptation of Pratchett) but it’s probably super hard to do well and keep the original feeling/spirit

To me, it sounds somewhat like hyper focusing. Are you familiar with ADHD or ASD?
Of course it’s not a 10 years from now thing, but it’s probably going to happen someday, and a dude like Musk or Trump with an artificially extended lifespan could be absolutely devastating.
Well, it’s becoming a genuine concern because of the advances of medicine and the growing understanding of the aging process. Imagine a guy like Musk living for a 100 or 200 years, imagine the accumulation of wealth.
Call me chauvinistic but France is absolutely special in many ways. The diversity of landscapes for a country this size is absolutely mad, not even considering the Outre Mer. The history is insanely rich, the culture is definitely worthwhile, and I’m not even talking about the food and its sheer diversity.
The problem is us, Frenchies, we’ve definitely lost our spark and are getting propaganded to hell. It’s a very sad state of affairs.
Less chauvinistically, I really like Norway and the Nordics in general.
Sex work is going to happen whether it’s legal or not. Might as well regulate it and provide sex workers with a legal framework, healthcare, retirement funds, etc.
It’s a tough read (as in long and highly detailed), but I feel it’s worth it to help understand how the media treats and reports information.
I live in France, and roughly 90% of the media is between the hands of a dozen people at most. You can really feel the impact in the general population.
Not American, but my views of America being “the good guy” completely crumbled when I read Chomsky’s Manufacturing Consent.
It made me put into perspective the amount of propaganda we’re being fed by mass media, just by reporting with carefully chosen words. It’s obviously not limited to America, because the same patterns are being used all around the world to justify imperialism, nationalism and ruthless capitalism.
It also helped me realise how fucked up some of the things my government did (and is still doing to be fair) and we just gobble it up, because it’s insanely hard to get out of the bubbles we’ve created for ourselves.
How do you do that, is there an app?
The same is happening to France. As you said, they’ll have a field day when (at this point it’s not if, it’s when) they get to power.
Gotta love neoliberalism…
I used to love them until the stories of them being fucking horrible people came out. They’ve been accused of rape, human trafficking and slavery.
