It was enough water to fill that room in a few minutes, I’d say a few toilets and shower drains would be a negligible effect. Although once the water got a few feet over the bowl, or other drain, I’d stay the fuck away from them because of potential delta-P situations.

There would be no air (or even sewer gas) to breath in that case. Toilets work by raising the water level in the bowl above the water level in the S-bend/siphon. Since the room was full of water, those toilets would have been flushing constantly, and the whole pipe would be full of water.
Better(ish) solution. Use the body bags that they each had to fill out and place in their trunk/locker to capture an air bubble. That would at least give you some time to attack the door, or figure out how to drain the room.
You’re looking at the new normal, at least for a while. Trump’s 2016 election was a paradigm shift in politics around here. Sure, Republicans were generally grifting ultra-capitalist race-baiting snowflake hypocrites before, but trump really lifted the veil and showed them their true selves. No longer do the need to actually govern or occasionally throw some benefits to their base. All they need to do is keep the hate baiting rage machine running, and their supporters will look the other way as long as they can hate anyone else for any reason rather than just deal with the fact that people exist outside their comforting illusion of “normal”.
You think next round is going to be any different? The next round of their presidential primaries are gonna be Desantis, Abbott, and MTG. They are going to keep using those same tactics, because fear and hate are easier for them to live with than hope and acceptance.
Still amazes me that at the end of the day, most of them are fired by what is essentially a mouse trap. I’m curious when electronically activated cartridges become acceptable. Imagine how much space/bulk you can relocate from a pistol without the need for a mechanical hammer/striker. Think about getting a crisp and responsive trigger on a bullpup style setup. How much more accurate could you be with a long range rifle if you eliminate the trigger pull from moving the weapon (have it disconnected from the firearm, like a remote camera trigger).

We should also switch away from liquid based detergents. My partner gets liquid dishwasher detergent, and it bugs me a bit because we’re paying extra money, and buying extra plastic, just to ship a dilute version of the powder that I’d rather buy.

But I see it as two sides of the same coin. Plastic or glass, we’re not getting at the core problem, which is long distance, packaging intensive transportation of goods. Plastic is bad because it becomes trash, and eventually a pollutant. Glass may have less pollution in the product, but more pollution in the distribution.
I think it’s worth pointing out here that there are some major downsides to glass.
Weight. Glass is heavy, more weight means more energy (and emissions) required to transport it, and a lower product mass to packaging mass ratio.
Durability. Glass bottles have to be much thicker than plastic bottles to achieve the same strength, which means thicker glass and/or additional packaging is required to get the product to the consumer.
It would be interesting to see the total life cycle emissions for packaging types, and to figure out how many re-uses (if any) are required for a glass bottle to offset its pollution footprint compared to a disposable vs recycled plastic bottle.
I can’t really advocate for plastic/aluminum/glass packaging, since I’m not aware of a study the considers the total footprint for each.
Ideally, we’d purchase our own containers, and then fill our own containers from a local bulk supply. Minimizing the weight and distance traveled while maximizing re-use is key.

I’m out here in the 34^vz dimension, and a gallon of gas costs more than I make in a year, partly because there is only one dimension at this time that still hasn’t stopped burning fossil fuels, despite the immense and obvious damage it does to the environment, but also because we here in 34^vz have evolved past the concept of money.

I wouldn’t know. There are toilets in the US that use a high pressure flush, but they still have a siphon. It’s there so that the toilet can flush without water pressure from the mains (you can flush a toilet by dumping a bucket of water in it) and it also forms a seal that prevents sewer gas from flowing back up through the toilet. So even if the toilet uses an alternate flushing method, it probably still has a siphon.
