the two largest that come to mind are Brikwars and Mobile Frame Zero.

MFZ is a “large scale by small peices” mech game where people make various fighting machines that are probably no taller than one’s finger at most.

Brikwars on the other hand, if I could compare it to anything, is to compare it to One Page Rules. In spirit at least (it has its own rulebook). but its heavily based on people just making whatever armies and battlefields they want, and declaring them to be units that follow X Y Z stats etc.

I moved into wargaming with lego instead, some of the communities / games they just make their own lore too. I find it more entertaining than subscribing to the whims of a 5 billion dollar company.

i never even got to the play stage. I got frustrated with the cost of materials, and having to learn how to paint, it was like trying to run 2 hobbies at once. ended up selling my stuff. so my interest was mostly video games. and still then, theres only a handful of 40K games I liked

I was briefly into 40k in the 00s, but once the 2010s started I slowly started getting an ick feeling from it but I couldn’t quite put my finger on it.

specifically, I was still cool with most of the lore, but the Imperium fanboys were getting to be unfun to be around. As I got older and wised up, I figured out around the same time many others did, that these same people just had a fascism fetish in general.

for the first year of my current job, I worked in a different department. (Service advisor at a car dealership, also, I hated it)

we had a mechanic who was ready to not be a mechanic anymore, and move on to something else (ill come back to that later) and we had a senior service advisor who was a crotchety lecherous old man who needed to fucking retire.

they worked with each other for so long that they had become like an old couple, getting into screaming matches at work, Usualyl it involved the old guy giving a job to the mechanic that the mechanic didnt want to do (he’d throw hissy fits over being given certain types of vehicles),

they had a full on screaming match in the garage where my computer was, I walked in to witness it. I walked away because I hated dealing with either of those people when they were having a manchild meltdown. they saw that I saw them, but didnt say anything.

The next day they’re talking to each other about someone having ratted on them for their fight. and were giving me the murder eyes…

one of the bosses, witnessed the fight on camera with audio… I never said shit. I explained it afterward, to the mechanic and the old guy, the mechanic understood, the old guy didnt want to hear it.

that was 3 years ago, the old guy is gone now, and both the mechanic, and myself, work in the sales department, and the relationship is completely 180’d to the point that we can laugh about those days now.

I’ve found that I have to keep my hands off my body, the stimulation of being touched keeps me alert.

id be fine with the IDF, Hamas and Hezbollah all wiping each other out to a man, but I know that one side’s got infinitely more firepower in this game…

anyway. its clear to me Israel is just using this wartime emergency powers time… to A - keep Bibi out of jail, obviously, but B - Steal, Destroy, Occupy, and Kill as much as they can while the iron is hot. Im frankly surprised they convinced Hezbollah to a ceasefire and its held as long as it did, because Israel doesn’t show any intention of stopping its war state anytime soon.

yeah, we still have a TV package but I havent had a TV in my office where I spend most of my awake off-time, there’s nothing worth watching anymore for me, just awful programming , news, sports, and PPV/Inferior on demand services.

I dont even use netflix anymore, I rage-quit after falling for that tyson paul bait and switch scam. the only “TV” I watch anymore is like streams of 15 year old adult cartoons like the Boondocks and South Park. and whatevers on my buddy’s Plex server. almost entirely old stuff more than 5 years old.

watching the news is just brain rot. you can get informed by 10 mins of scrolling current events on many different websites… if you feel the need to be informed.

They are end of life now and have ceased production, but if you can manage to find a 5800X3D , that CPU is the definition of sleeper. I had a 5700X I think it was, and the performance boost was f***ing unreal, I expected meagre gains, I saw 20 to 50% performance increase on many games. if you’re into that kind of thing. if you see one for sale, seriously think about grabbing it.

its the whole reason aside from the OS issue, Im not even remotely worried about the next few years, it can compete with the high end stuff of the AM5 generation still. unreal.

Realistically the AM4 is still more than enough for now. but its technically end of life. the AM5 isn’t worth the jump until theres no other option.

Its just gonna be a question of how unsecure Win10 gets , and how fast.

My pc is from 2019, although I’ve upgraded the hardware several times. But I’ve basically reached a ceiling of practicality, its no longer practical to upgrade anything. Im on an outdated chipset (AM4) and jumping from a 3080 to a 4080 isn’t really going to fix the problem of games just being unoptimized. It makes more sense to build a new PC than it does to just change OS on this.

but right now, it just doesnt make sense to build a new PC either… I dont lift a finger on anything unless im going to be able to see at minimum 20% performance increase, I just dont see that without emptying my savings account…

I have about 7-9 months to decide what to do with my PC. I don’t want to move to windows 11. Because I will have to basically fresh-install my entire system that has 4 drives and god knows how many antiquated programs on it from the XP, Vista and 7 era that I still use. and Im just not ready for it. Im too busy
