Send this shit tier meme back to 2016.
From the ANSWER coalition? Yeah I doubt it. ANSWER has close ties to the PSL. The folks who were demonstrating with ANSWER against the Iraq War are now demonstrating with ANSWER against the genocide of the Palestinians. They’re not Democrat loyalists.
Probably something about not having all your eggs in one basket.
Yeah I agree for the most part. I will say I think moderation can have problems though (example: Reddit for a while did that thing where they would ban 1 fascist subreddit for inciting violence against minorities and then also ban 10 leftist subreddits for people saying John Brown was based).
But I think it depends on how the platform is designed and how moderation is implemented. Lemmy’s implementation is some of the best I’ve seen.
But I do agree, some form of moderation is necessary.
Yeah, I think the amount of non-fascist people has gone down since Musk bought Twitter. I anticipate it will continue with that trend. The process is not instant, especially when the platform is as pervasive as Twitter. But I think Twitter is a good demonstration of why moderation is a good thing.
And yeah, moderation is often not implemented in a perfect way. But I think Lemmy’s transparency (mod logs) approach is an improvement over traditional moderation.
Sure but without moderation you’re left with a Nazi echo-chamber. When there’s no mechanism to kick out the Nazis, most normal people will leave over time. A platform that allows Nazis just becomes a Nazi platform.
I’m not sure, but in my opinion, moderation is necessary. Any network without moderation will be flooded with Nazis and pedophiles. I don’t think you’ll have a good time.
Tbh, I doubt it. NSA probably gives the exploits to Cellebrite who then packages it as a tool easy enough to be used by a barely tech-literate cop. And even if that’s not how it works, the American IC does hire hackers that can find 0days or can reverse engineer Cellebrite tooling. Or the company can always be acquired by a silicon valley ghoul like Peter Thiel.
Above all else, Israel is a valuable forward operating base for our neo-imperialist foreign policy agenda. I highly doubt we’re funding the genocide to keep Cellebrite afloat.
the problem with this meme is that the 👍is never the answer the comunity gives. They are indeed always very angry and are usually the first ones to say “transphobic”.
ALWAYS angry? Meaning your friends call you transphobic for not having sex with them? They’re NEVER cool with people’s preferences? Your friends sound toxic as hell, I’ve never had that experience with my trans friends.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with having preferences. As long as you don’t fetishize or objectify, and you treat people with dignity and respect it’s all chill.
That’s one of the worst Lemmy instances imo.
And it’s my view that we are free to dunk on people with bad views.
They’re kind of right. LLMs are not general intelligence and there’s not much evidence to suggest that LLMs will lead to general intelligence. A lot of the hype around AI is manufactured by VCs and companies that stand to make a lot of money off of the AI branding/hype.
Who or what is this sole “left leaning political coalition”? If you’re referring to Democrats they are neither left leaning nor a coalition. They are a center-right political party. Coalition implies multiple parties. And the Democratic party isn’t exactly known for activism, unless you’re counting fundraising events.
Protests with political organization can lead to change. Protests without political organization are just yelling at a wall.
Right… I’m not sure why you think I’m not in favor of organized resistance.
If you don’t want someone to take offense at what you write, don’t smugly tell them to learn introspection. Act like an arrogant dick, get treated like an arrogant dick.
You were doing a “both sides” between anarchists and fascists, eerily similar to Trump, while claiming to be “left leaning”. I think my response was warranted, if not understated. But frankly, that’s plain ignorant.
Direct action is meaningless if you’re hostile to building a coalition broad enough to actually gain any significant political power.
Spoken like someone who’s never done organizing, participated in protests or any other direct action. You’re a keyboard warrior who’s probably never even interacted with a socialist IRL.
this is a democracy and without votes going to candidates who can win, it is ultimately meaningless.
Not a democracy and also I already gave 2 examples showing the contrary.
I remember being young and convinced socialism was the way forward. Then I grew the fuck up and did some introspection.
No need to be a condescending dick. I’m also guessing I’m older than you, not that it’s relevant.

This is why libs get clowned on so hard. You claim to support “the only viable left leaning political party”, and yet you’re kneecapping large swaths of people on the ground engaging in direct action advancing left leaning values. Remember, segregation wasn’t ended because black people voted, blood was spilt in the streets. Same with the LGBT community, see the stonewall uprising, aka, the first pride parade.
I don’t care how you vote, but if you can’t see the difference between an anarchist engaging in direct action against an oppressive state and fascists doing hate crimes; well, I’d say it’s time to get off your high horse and do a little introspection.
Right side should read tankies, not communists.
Ehh, I disagree. A counter example; I’d bet money that folks in England know more about our country than we do theirs, especially when it comes to politics and current issues. I’m pretty sure most Americans wouldn’t be able to name the British PM or even what party is in power there. Everyone there probably knows Biden is the president and that he is a Democrat.
Also, Al Jazeera publishes in English, I don’t think language is the primary barrier. American media just generally doesn’t cover foreign affairs all that much (and when they do, they generally do a shit job).
