Just teach them how to use the internet safely and properly. Not to say their age and their address, not to add random people on discord, stuff like that. If you isolate your kids from the internet, then at this point in time, you’re kind of isolating them from a decent chunk of human culture, which from personal experience (anecdotal, not very useful, I know), is a terrible idea. I was raised Mormon, I know how restricting access to things goes for kids. They’ll end up buying a phone off of a friend with less of an idea of how to use it safely. Maybe check their youtube homepage once in a while, make sure it isn’t slop, ask them about what they’re doing on there, answer any questions they have. Might wanna filter some stuff before middle school though. Block gore sites, those tend to fuck people up quite a bit.

Yeah, kind of. Only with close friends, obviously. Mostly over text as well, that helps. In person, I mostly just act happy, a bit of mild annoyance, and slightly incredulous when something really stupid or weird happens. Mostly the same over text, except I also tell people about my more depressing thoughts. I never truly get angry, even when I probably should. I’ve never broken anything or lost any measure of control. My emotions have never been anyone else’s problem, and they never will be. Cis guy btw, if that helps. Oh yeah, all of the friends are women, one of them is trans.

If she’s even half decent as a parent, she won’t forget. I got away with lying about cutting myself, because I only did it once (for fun if you can believe it) and I’m never doing it again. Honestly, if I didn’t have my experiences, I’d probably send you to get help as well. But, I do know that they don’t really help a lot of the time. If I were you, I’d tell my friends about where you’re going to be, prepare for it mentally, and make the most of the time you spend there. Best of luck.

Depends, but lying to your psychiatrist helps. If you don’t mind me asking, what did you get caught doing? I understand if you don’t feel like telling some internet random, you probably shouldn’t, but the answer does probably make quite a difference for the answer’s accuracy.

I’ve never been to one, even though I should’ve probably been sent to one like 4 times at this point. I do however, know people that have been sent. It’s not very fun. They confiscate all your stuff that you have on you, I believe. No access to your phone. It’s boring, but you’ll live. Making friends helps. Best of luck if you do get sent.

I mean, they’re pretty good, but they’ve also been out for a while. I think that a lot of the people that want and can afford it have been buying it over the past couple years. Most people don’t tend to wait several years to get new consoles. I do, but even I’ve had my series s since early 2023. The tariffs can’t be helping.
