And then you have that nasty little foot pedal trashcan next to your toilet because you don’t flush the wipes, right?
…you don’t flush the wipes…do you?

Careful with the bidet conversation. I saw someone on plebbit explain how they don’t have to wash their hands after they take a shit because they have a bidet that washes and dries their asshole.
I don’t like this food.
Ok, there’s lots of stuff I don’t like. Why not grab a Snickers?
It’s an abomination!
Whoa there, it’s just a Reese’s cup…
phillistine depravity!!
Look, that’s excessive, isn’t it? And there’s only one L in phi-

Calm down, psycho! Holy shit touch grass!

Who made this stupid nonsense?
Normalize respecting young people’s contributions, knowledge, and skills before mentioning their age…
I understand that user moderation is an accepted practice nowadays, but people end up on those blocklists for invalid reasons and I’d prefer a default filter like there is for hate speech.
When they added all those default filters to bluesky for things like violence and hate speech and didn’t add one for politics, I deleted my account. I’m so so so very tired of it. I’m also 100% sick of slacktivists thinking posting their politics on social media does anything other than make other people post their politics on social media.
It’s the most cultivated fruit in the world. “Is your method superior??” Get outta here. If you’re bored and want to see people argue, try reddit.
I can’t even remember the title of this post.
I know I am. Spooky, huh?
I think people use that word to mean immature. Childish implies that a behavior is age-inappropriate, but also implies that the behavior would be appropriate for a child, which is often not true. Immature is a better word to use when someone is doing behaviors that indicate their brain development hasn’t caught up with their life situation.
Isn’t that Pokimane? She’s ranked in League. Cute women can do great things. If you sexualize it maybe you’re a creep. Go watch her play.
Same experience here, and when I traveled as an immigrant, everyone was always very cordial and welcoming to me (which is more than I can say for the immigrant experience in America). I was in Brazil during Bolsonaro and found many lefties who appreciated the acknowledgement that they were still there working hard despite their country’s leadership (one of them got murdered by his father over politics). I was in Chile during the student riots under Pinera too and was welcomed by the leftists in the street throwing bottle bombs and the cops in riot gear with water cannons. The average person everywhere is involved in a continuous global struggle for human rights, education, economic equity, etc, and they recognize your empathy no matter what flavor of billionaire is currently running the country.
Tô the good, a lot of governments are pushing through regulations on AI usage and development, clean energy developments including wave energy will come to fruition, and economic shifts in what countries do business with each other could mean more development in Africa and South America.
To the bad, food insecurity will become a more exigent problem as basic needs get more expensive, global armed conflicts are escalating, and more folks will be injured through lack of regulation.
Any local who can’t separate you from the corrupt billionaires who run your country isn’t worth your time no matter where you are. Anyone who would lie to another person about where they’re from because they can’t separate themselves from the corrupt billionaires who run their country isn’t worth my time no matter where you’re from.
But I highly encourage everyone to ask “Okay, but is that a Swedish mile, nautical mile, Roman mile, or Chinese mile?” whenever miles comes up with Americans.
I find it tedious when someone pretends not to understand a conversation just to make some academic point, don’t you?
The image in the OP literally says “British: hey guys, we developed a thing called the metric sy-” so your argument is with the creator…
Which three?
My theory is that universal public education was less than a generation ago in most places, printing books was still expensive, and forget movie cameras and audio recording devices. You really had to be sure of the stuff you wanted to record before you recorded it in those days, in any medium, and you needed some money to be able to do it. As a result, a lot of the content we see nowadays that documents how average people talked and behaved was never written down or filmed or whatever.
So people probably didn’t really say “what in the Sam Hill…???” they probably said “what the fuck!” You just don’t know it because every ten year old didn’t have a 4k video camera in their pocket ready to roll on every bullshit that everyone did.
