Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If you had millions to spend on positive change in your local community / area, what would you spend it on?
10·27 days agoThese are great plans, and I would definitely do the same. I would also try to fund STEM activities for the youth and community, as most of that sort of money and effort here just goes into sports.
I really love the way the sky looks on the corner of buildings. I usually take pictures.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What were the best thing(s) for you about moving out of your parents home?
4·27 days agoBeing able to occasionally buy good food. Like, good artisanal chocolate or bread are things I can just have in the house rather than having to eat whatever my parents would buy.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Why do people recommend cachyos as a beginner distro?
12·2 months agoI see lots of people doing it on reddit
Fedora. It’s so easy to use and so stable. Unfortunately my bleeding-edge NVIDIA graphics card does not play nice with it, so I have been stuck with arch.
There was something like that earlier this year too

Privacy@lemmy.ml•An unsolicited Atlas OS review (normie perspective)
121·2 months agoReasonable review, but if you just wanted to simply debloat windows, you could run the Chris Titus windows tool, go to the tweaks tab, select recommended tweaks, then click run tweaks to achieve the same end goal. This sounds a bit more involved.

Technology@lemmy.world•Fluxer is another open-source Discord alternativeEnglish
2·2 months agoIt’s nearly exactly the same benefits as discord nitro had in 2020. Add a banner, send emojis from other servers, increased bio and upload size, 2x the communities, animated avatars, higher video quality.
Of course I would prefer for these things to be free, but I understand they want this to be profitable and as long as they aren’t going discord’s route of monetizing every area of the platform I do understand it.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Epstein file scandal: Why none of the rich have been sent to jail for pedophilia ?
19·2 months agoThe average person doesn’t have power to put someone in jail. That’s what the courts are for, and lawmakers care far more about money than doing right for the American people.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's the worst travel delay you've experienced?
1·3 months agoI had an 8AM flight across the country. Got up around 5AM, drove to the airport. On the way it was delayed by 2 hours, meaning that I would miss my connecting bus. Okay fine, had to rebook that for an extra $75, what can you do my schedule permitted that sort of delay, although the cost was undesirable. I sat and had some nice sit-down breakfast. Then I got the notification that it was delayed by three hours. I once again had to cancel and rebook on the last available bus, and was now going to get in at around 8PM instead of 3PM, with a four-hour bus ride to immediately follow. There were issues with the plane that needed to be figured out, which delayed take-off by almost two extra hours. After the 3.5 hour flight, the baggage was delayed by hour after getting off the plane. I missed my bus, had to book a hotel at two in the morning, accidentally booked the wrong bus for the next morning and had to book a fourth, got four hours of sleep, then got on a bus to my final destination.
So what was supposed to be about 9 hours of travel ended up taking around 28 😐 (and around $600 extra but thankfully the airline paid for that)

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Are there any art programs designed specifically for mouse users?
3·3 months agoAutodesk sketchbook works pretty well when using a mouse.

Yeah I noticed there’s a decent enough gap in the elevator about a week ago and now I’m paranoid whenever I exit it.
