  • Why did you even bring up AI? IDEs have been able to generate equality functions for decades without AI.

It’s kinda neat to have this defined directly in the language so that compilers can implement it, but creating equality function is so low effort that this doesn’t really seem like a big deal.

Like, you define the members in a class, then you tell your IDE to generate getters, constructor, equals, hashcode, etc all in like 5 seconds.
I like it, it’s nice when the language itself defines reasonable defaults for things, but realistically you’re saving yourself a few seconds of effort.

  • There are so few native desktop apps these days, it’s all on the web.
And the browser can glean a lot more about user interaction than just web traffic, like where you hover, what parts of the page you’re interacting with, etc.
That’s why I said that (combined with phone), Google probably knows more.

But it’s probably a pretty close competition

  • That’s how you get to cars.

    Add more trains.
The trains now need to seat fewer people so make them smaller. Maybe 2-7 people per train.
Most routes aren’t needed at any given time, so you might as well only run the train when someone needs it.
Rather than keeping the unused trains in a central depot, keep them at the departure points
We can’t staff all these trains, and if the departure points are peoples’ homes, then let’s have the people themselves drive it
The network of destinations requires a TON of rail switches, and coordinating that is a complicated. Better to use a technology that doesn’t require switches, like wheels on pavement.

    Boom, cars.

So it really depends on what you’re optimizing for.

  • We had good nationwide rail, and instead of expanding it, we dug it up and replaced it with nationwide roads.

So let’s do it again, dig up the roads and replace it with rail.

Trains can be faster, safer, cleaner, and more comfortable. We can still have roads for the last mile, but trains for Intercity and interstate.

  • I mean, currently both space elevators and wormholes (as transportation) seem physically impossible.

If we’re not sticking to the realm of our current understanding of physics, then that opens the doors for techbros too, because we’re in the realm of speculative fiction and things can be however we say they are.

There was never a fig leaf. They already didn’t need to devote any attention to political cover, the USA already made it clear that it wouldn’t tolerate holding Israel or any of the Israeli politicians accountable in international courts.

The difference between the two is purely in wording and absolutely immaterial. If anything, trump is being more honest about it.

Trump is terrible for other reasons, but they’re both equal in this matter

how about his commitment to arm Israel with no strings attached? No humanitarian aid, no cease fires…

Oh you mean exactly like right now?

Anyone who thinks that orange man is an improvement is an idiot. But anyone who thinks Kamala would be better is also an idiot.

Israel is already getting everything they could ever wish for. There is nothing that Trump could offer that they’re not already getting, including protection from the international community.
