YOU DONT KNOW ME
A soup.
YOU DONT KNOW ME
My workplace has a defined benefit pension and they announced that all employees will be losing this pension (even those who are a couple years from retirement).
We will be switched over to a defined contribution pension and our previous contributions will be converted retroactively.
I don’t foresee this new pension lasting more than 5 years before they cut it completely. I wouldn’t even be surprised if they’re able to keep our pension contributions retroactively, fucking everyone over.
I’m reasonably tech savvy. All my personal computers run Linux, I have a 2-node proxmox homelab with 10+ containers and virtual machines running self hosted services. I can hack other people’s code together from web searches to sometimes make things work.
I had to do a few web searches to figure out how to sign up and get started on Mastodon. If it was a bit of a challenge for me with my listed tech skills, it’s insurmountable to the average user in the general public.
No I’m sorry this is not correct. Most people don’t know how email works. They don’t understand federation, how servers work, or have the confidence or patience to learn it. They want to click an app and get content.
You are on an open source self hosted federated media platform exclusively inhabited by tech super users and developers. We are very much in an echo chamber here. I leave you this study that I keep posting here when Lemmy users lament over the lack of uptake from the general public:
Because in Bluesky, you open the app, create an account, and you’re good to go.
Federation is way too complex of an idea for the average person. Picking a server and then understanding instances is much too complicated.
My wife thought it was wild how aggressive some street vendors are and how they set up tourist trinkets on blankets on the ground. We live very rurally haha
Went to Europe for my honeymoon and Paris was the first stop since the wife hadn’t been to Europe. She thought it was dirty and underwhelming.
A nice city to see for sure but for sightseeing and museums. Felt like New York City in a way.
Samantha.
Dudes name was Clint. Imagine giving birth to a human child and then looking down at the pink noisemaker and thinking “that’s a Clint”.
Homie out here flexing with his extremely motile sperm.
Finally after all these years I learned that u actually can get pregnant as a man as long as you eat so many perogies. It’s a food baby and mines named Samantha.
Harvey’s Hamburgers counted the times I punched in 1-3 minutes past my official start time (despite me being there 20 minutes in advance all times) as being “late” and fired me based off of this.
The two other employees were both pregnant with the manager so I have a suspicion that I got fired because at that time I couldn’t get pregnant. I still can’t get pregnant now because I’m a man, but I also couldn’t get pregnant back then.
9/10 because they refer to California as Commiefornia
More likely he’ll use tax money to subsidize red state groceries so their eyes won’t lie to them as much.
Because humans are nervous apes who just want to be loved. Impressing other people gives you feedback that you are wanted, accepted, and appreciated.
Same. I can explain it in depth because I too almost fell down this rabbit hole. 2015-2016 is when it got real bad and I started watching all sorts of sjw cringe compilations. As a barely adult I had no idea that all of this content was deliberately placed in front of me because I was the right target demographic.
What stopped me was when the rhetoric increased in severity and people started denying trans identity and claiming that these people should be locked up. At that same time I read a bunch of studies where they proved that neuron networks in trans people’s brains literally resembled the sex they felt they were. Science got me out of it and I quickly saw that this was just outright bullying/hatred and science denying.
Hey you and me both with the teeth falling out! In my variant of these dreams, my molars start to crack and shatter and small bits of the tooth start falling out/are loose.
I find it so silly. Compared to Excel, Power BI is so easy. Yet, fancy graphs that move other graphs when you click a specific bar is all any senior manager wants to see. They don’t even understand what the data is. They don’t even care! Pretty bars go brrrrrr in their minds. Whatever. I get paid.
I recently learned how to use DAX expressions in Microsoft Power BI and how you can use them in measures so you can do all sorts of changes to datasheets so that when you make dashboards and data visualizations, it all looks super pro without complicated workarounds to make your data present nicely.
My employer didn’t read the description of the training and just signed me and a whole bunch of other people up. It was a certification course meant to train for the final exam but most of my coworkers who were there hadn’t even opened Power BI up before. I was just at the right experience level for this course though, as I’ve used PowerBI at an end user level for a couple years now.
In the industry I work in, they can legally do anything to you because our work exists outside of the Canadian Labour Code. This includes give you $0 paycheques for months and expect you to keep doing your job until it’s fixed, which can take 3 months to a year.
