  • Less than likely. Cars have been one of the most dangerous (non war) inventions of man.

Car companies even made up jaywalking, to shift the responsibility to pedestrians. They became the “perpetrators” of a crime when cars hit or killed them. “Jay” was a pejorative, a slur, back in the early 1900s. And so if you got hit by a car on the streets - which used to belong to the walkers, runners, bikers, etc. - they blamed you, not the unregulated death machine flying thru the shared space.

(personal opinion, but I wouldn’t doubt if it was partially racially motivated, since the 13th amendment allows for slavery as criminal punishment)

Some day we’ll be rid of 90+% of cars, and we’ll be safer for it.

  • Just imagine if that gunner didn’t have access to the very same gun so many others have had.

It’s like guns are the reason for mass shootings (and very often domestic violence histories). If AR-style guns, and similar guns with similar capabilities, were not available to the public, the “good guys” wouldn’t have had that bad guy to kill.

Prevention is worth an ounce of cure. But since our healthcare sucks, people can’t understand that.

  • Guns are why we’ve had 34 mass shootings in July alone. Almost 300 this year. 3 in the past 24 hours.

Of all the problems we have in this country, it’s the one thing we seem to avoid trying to mitigate.

We need to try, and we’re not: https://youtu.be/BoHFjVR9Xyo [5:15]

Immediately after a newsworthy gun event, it’s “never the time” to talk about safety.

We have rights to guns, but not rights to have healthcare for when you get shot by the gun. “We have gun care, and health control” to paraphrase Newsom.
