Short bursts of great stuff are better than long periods of shitty stuff.

If an annual pass to a museum is $100, i would spend two day’s dollars buying 3-day passes to lots of different museums for a friend and me. Do we auto transport to the city? Or does the museum just appear at my house?

On the other days i would take a couple of laps around a track in some cool cars, have sips of some very expensive whiskey, and ride short sections of trains around the world.

During the week i would search the internet to find great $1 specials at bars all over the world and on weekends i would slowly have a beer on a beach in Mexico, vermouth in Barcelona, coffee in Modena, a mojito in havana, …

I think my dad’s family got cheese. I assumed it was because they were native American. I don’t remember ever trying it - i just saw a couple of big blocks that said CHEESE on a shelf.

My son is vegan and he makes fun of himself - If you vape, you’re vegan, and you’re in a band; which one do you talk about first? Was funnier a few years ago when people carried around those giant vapes. We harassed him a lot for saying, “i can’t eat that” - well, yes you can, but you choose not to- so, now he’ll say he prefers to avoid animal products. If people ask, be honest and answer succinctly - I’m trying it to see if it makes me feel better, or whatever. The hate isn’t from choosing your own food. It’s from the endless conversations and superior, more informed attitude about it - same as anyone who makes one thing their identity - politics, religion, etc.

I have the same, plus a watch plan, two home internets, apple tv, netflix, and i just realized that we were paying insurance on 4 phones (that i need to cancel to save$60!) for $374/mo.

I have house projects about to start, so i will be buying stuff for that, but it’s mostly labor. Someone asked what everyone is buying now because it will likely get more expensive. Couldn’t really think of anything.

ETA- i was initially pretty concerned and wanted to really cut back spending and increase savings. We will likely do some of that, but we’re still planning little holiday trips and doing work on the house.

Feminine products and Imodium. One of my biggest fears is being kidnapped and not having those things. They let you keep your backpack when you’re kidnapped, right? Chapstick would also be nice.

Post on the general communities and if it takes off, consider a separate community. It’s sort of like being out in the world and finding people with common interests.

Sometime in the last 5-10 years, McD’s changed their English muffins. They used to be good, now they have a weird, too fluffy texture even if you get then extra toasted.

I do Lemmy by subscribed/new until I get to something I recognize. I scroll Facebook a bit to see what my distant family is doing and to see what’s going on in the work/industry/hobby groups that I follow. I check Facebook marketplace local to see if there’s anything cool. Then I read the news for local stuff and to see what didn’t get posted here. Then if I’m super bored I go back to Lemmy/All

I search YouTube for how-to videos or specific songs. The only time I really take recommendations is on music - I like to pick the recommended song that’s least similar to the song that I just listened to and keep doing that to see where it takes me.

We’re cooking in an airbnb, so I’m paying for no prep. There will only be 5 of us and one is vegan so it will likely become sandwiches and gumbo on Friday and Saturday.
