It might be just because I’m relatively middle of the road bisexual, but I always liked the idea that most people aren’t quite on the extreme ends of the Kinsey scale, but like, a tiny bit bi at least.
I am definitely thankful for having a family that was very open about everything, and didn’t mind either way, though I do feel that the years spent not wanting to engage with the thought partially came down to pressure from peers, as anything other than heterosexuality seemed to be seen as alien back then. From what I hear from my brother, that actually changed a lot compared to when I was in school, and things are a lot more accepting now.
I thought I was straight for about 17 years, thinking that also being attracted to men was just something everyone experienced.
Fucking hell.
Anyway, here’s a longer, more up to date Version of the article.
Israeli forces fire at UN peacekeeper positions in south Lebanon, peacekeepers say
Probably not surprising to anyone, but not entirely uninteresting.
Every time I read about the Japanese justice system, it just seems like abject horror.
Yeah. I mean, the whole free speech thing is cool and all, but this seems like it should be seen as a direct threat.
Three. One lost, one broken, one in my drawer.
Thinking about making it four, three doesn’t work with some outfits.
Full disk encryption always seemed the most sensible to me, but I’m not sure whether that needs to be decrypted after hibernation.
That’s pretty much my ThinkPad’s Specs. Fine for almost all stuff I have to do on the go (expect CAD, don’t try to run BricsCAD on the thing, it’ll make you go crazy.)
I use full disk encryption on it, as on all my other devices, and it’s fine, speed-wise. The SSD is NVME, not SATA, but I doubt the performance impact would be noticeable on a SATA SSD if that’s what you’ve got.
Yeah, that’s a bit of a hike, probably would throw my plans for the week.
That does sound fun. How far from Berlin are you, in rough terms? Can I walk over, or is it more of a cycling distance?
Also, to touch on the other questions in the post, I have an Apple Music Subscription, but do have about 50 GB of flac files of my favourite music mirrored to most of my devices, in case I’m holed up somewhere without Internet access.
I have a switch emulator on my pc. Ones for other consoles too. Don’t see much added value in a physical console, since I need a reasonably powerful PC for work anyway.
I’ve gotten a free CD at a concert recently. I don’t have anything to play it on.
I mean, I dunno how things are on your side of the pond, but here this would preclude a contract that is more expensive for otherwise equal condition, usually meaning a higher total cost of ownership.
I also tend to throw on a custom rom anyway - my four year old midranger is on the current version of Android. More and more devices also tend to get supported for longer, so that’s worth considering.
Also, out of date and brand new have gotten more and more meaningless for smartphones. I’ve got a processor fast enough to run everything I do seamlessly, a nice and sharp display, and a battery that lasts me a day. That’s about the same I’d have with a current flagship.
I mean, it’s your call, and I don’t really care what kind of phone you use, I just don’t think it’s quite as black and white as you paint it.
400 might have been a bit much. You can get a refurbished Pixel 7a for a bit over 300€ around here, and that should last you for quite some years.
I’m currently on a four year old phone that was 400€ back then, though I fear the USB Port might not be long for this world, which would force me to upgrade - it’s soldered and rather hard to replace.
When have you last used a mid range phone? It used to make a huge difference, but over the years, as phones matured, I feel it’s shrunken down more and more. I used to always use flagships, but these days, I don’t see what value they provide over 400-600€ phones in daily usage.
Well, Telegram seems to be giving user data to the German Federal Criminal Police Office, and if they’re cooperating with the German authorities, I don’t see why I’d presume they aren’t cooperating with others as well.
All this is actually documented, compared to those nebulous “important people”.
You don’t. Autobahnen usually exist between cities, and are separate from other types of traffic. Your vehicle also needs to meet a minimum speed requirement to be allowed on. When an Autobahn runs through a city, there’s usually a grade separation.
