I started a Meetup group a few years ago as a hobby despite no formal training. My group has now outlived many others and I’m surprised by how many people I meet on hikes who have heard of my group and actually listen to my advice these days.

Don’t forget about the guy either who ran an ultra marathon with no real training here in Australia and ended up winning . Turned out his goofy style of running was actually more efficient than normal jogging.

I know someone who is the world record holder for highest gym class She absolutely deserved it. She’s not nims, but she gave it a shot

I know a lady with Parkinson’s who is a cross fit champ. People like you would tell her she should give up

They charge bs prices, and it annoys me that they send ads for their own paid seminar things you can’t block, even if you’re not part of the group

If you’re a grown adult who isn’t getting offended by tampons or solar and aren’t absolutely obsessed with other people’s sexuality preferences, then Id say you’re in the clear.

I think there is disgusting/cringe weird and then there are people who are simply different.

People who aren’t trying to follow the standard template are awesome because they’re rare and they have unique experiences to add.

These guys however are all trying to follow a template, and went everyone else to follow it. And they’re trying so hard in a way that is so illogical it’s ridiculous because they want to be “alphas”

In my case…

I just left a instance (which rhymes with seesaw) because one of the admins accused me of “starting a fight” and “not being nice” because I didn’t agree with an article that was posted.

It was however perfectly acceptable for someone to instantly accuse me of wanting to kill an entire group of people and of being a bad person (I won’t be specific, but it was a very clear exaggeration and the comment was overlooked by the admin). But, I wasn’t being “nice” because I calmly explained my perspective on the lawsuit the article was about (and apparently having a difference of opinion is considered “fighting” lol). And honestly, my opinion wasn’t extreme in any capacity either (in fact, it half agreed with them)…

And it was such a pity because the other admins there seem so cool, and I loved the idea of the instance (I actually donated originally)

So, yep, I can definitely agree, it’s so easy to move around.

So far, I’ve actually found the people on other instances to be really cool actually (which I wasn’t expecting, because my original instance portrayed the rest of Lemmy as a bit of a cesspool at times honestly)
