Nvidia is the problematic one. But in most cases that just means that you have to install extra drivers after installation. In most distributions that just means installing an extra package and rebooting. Don’t go to the nvidia website for that.

If you are already familiar with a Linux distribution use that. If you have a friend who uses Linux use the same thing they do. Or just use Mint.

You can change the way your system looks and works by choosing a different desktop environment. Many distributions just have one default but you can always change that later on. The big ones are Gnome which is a bit more like Mac OSX and KDE which is more Windows like. KDE also offers much more customisability.

The difference being that the toothbrush actually gets used.

Personally I never upgraded from DVD to Bluray because of the costs and DRM. And while I waited for those to be solved streaming got good enough.

Perhaps these kids’ parents are the same, so they just use what they have.

CDs were so much better for my kids than any other digital player. Especially when they couldn’t read yet. It’s much easier to choose a CD and put it into a player than opening an app to search for something.

If you’re not making posts that the community members want to see, then they are justified in downvoting you so that they do their part to influence the culture of the community.

The point is non-community members downvoting everything. When there are five people active in a community, five non-communists downvoting everything can seriously hurt the community’s reach even when people are browsing their subs with a scaled sort.
