Me neither!
Me neither!
I think you can just be grateful to have or experience something. Like you can’t be grateful to anyone for a full moon, but you can be grateful that you saw it.
Comfort can be about how you look. I have some clothes that are super comfortable, but if I wore them out in public I would be arrested because I look like a drug dealer. Find something comfy in the way that it reflects how you want to be seen
I mean, looking like you know what you’re doing, looking confident doesn’t mean you have to dress plain.
Also I am sure gym bros will complement you on your body. Kind of like how as a straight man I only get compliments on my facial hair from other men. Look for validation from your friends not randos
You’re probably in a better place than most severely depressed people because you think that you can get better! Probably the best thing to do is keep a growth mindset and try to learn as much as you can about depression. Getting over depression is a journey.
Lots of other people have said running & friends, those things help me. But recently/now I am depressed and running 40 miles a week and seeing my friends regularly.
What’s a really cheap solution? Pirate some bibliotherapy books! Feeling good by David D. Burns is older, but I’m reading it right now and it seems like a really solid CBT book. I would also recommend “Adult children of emotionally immature parents”. It helped me understand why I am the way I am
The hardest part for me is noticing when my thoughts are turning situations from good or neutral into bad situations. Paying attention to your thoughts in an objective way is hard! But some sort of mindfulness practice can help.
Journaling can be useful! You can train your brain to look for good things by writing out 3 good things that happened or you did every night.
That only makes it cooler
Not a fan of indie games are you?
Baba is you, is a pretty original puzzle game. I’m not really into factorio, but it made tower defense cool again. There’s lots more that are weird and interesting like brigadore, airships conquer the skies, cruelty squad, superliminal.
As far as I remember, portal was a mod or indie game that valve picked up because they thought the idea was really good. It was really good.
Yellow and the subsequent games are pretty interesting puzzle games
I watched a video a little while ago , I think the only value winamp has is nostalgic and historical. If it was really open source maybe we could get a really good fork and that’s about it, I think. Maybe I’m missing the point, let me know I’m not very smart at this stuff.
In my experience people have a hard time running through a checklist in their head. That’s why just imagining the action is so helpful, since you don’t have to think as much. Or in my experience, the less you think about it the more natural the movement becomes. Like you can practice the action a bit but you need to eventually just do the action.
I’ve noticed that after getting older, suffering several concussions, a short spat with drinking, and COVID that my ability to picture things in my mind has degraded a lot since childhood.
Does your ability to imagine things naturally decline? I remember as a lad I could vividly imagine the feeling of things. My imagination was also much more colorful. But I could never see things in 3D like some people can (I’ve worked with some really talented tradesmen/machinists who can like assemble or fold or machine a piece in their mind, I don’t know maybe that’s just practice)
So as someone who coaches sometimes I have to ask. Can you imagine and feel body movements? Sometimes I’ll ask someone to visualize themselves performing an action before they do it.
The Alchemist, I had to read it for a community college class. It’s probably the most predictable book I’ve ever read, but not in an entertaining way. Just painfully boring.
I read Siddhartha for highschool a couple years before, I would say that the books are almost identical, except I liked Siddhartha more.
You want a book with similar themes but actually amazing? The wizard of Earthsea.
I know the books aren’t literally the same. But the vibes feel very similar. I want to say they have very similar structure, but my memory doesn’t work that great.
I don’t know about wild, but UNSONG has been a very weird trip. It’s like science fiction, except instead of science its Jewish kabbalah. There’s angels, demons, alt history American politics, religious references that are truly esoteric, and puns… lots and lots of puns.
I’m not usually an internet commentor, but I try to chip in on Lemmy sometimes. I think most people just treat it like the rest of social media today, where the smart idea is to just lurk
I actually switched back to Firefox (from chrome) about 5 or 6 years ago because I liked the interface more. And I still like the Firefox design decisions more than what chrome is doing.
Privacy is nice too but people come to Firefox for lots of reasons.
Yeah, so? Name a Republican president who did a better job. Because I’ll take sleepy joe over George W. Bush any day.
Also we’re talking about politicians and presidents here. We don’t have kings here in the US, a president is only a piece of an administration. Even if Trump wins and they make president a more dictatorial role, he’ll still only be a puppet to other powerful people.
I’m genuinely not sure what people want out of politics? Like do you want some sort of god king to come down from their city on a hill and to fix everything to be perfectly moral? Politics is messy and full of compromise. It sucks, but in the grand scheme of things a president can only steer the trajectory of the country a little bit.
Just listened to it. Yeah I get it
A slack line? Maybe over budget
Stuff to build skate features, or wax for waxing curbs
If he lives by snow, a park rake is super cool for building snow features. It like makes a perfect jump for you.
G-form (knee)pads maybe lame, but by far the most comfortable protection I’ve ever worn.
A knife, 10 year old me would spend hours widdling sticks, trying to make wooden swords and stuff
3d printed nerf guns are amazing now. If you have access
