Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do you describe death to a person who's from a world where nothing ever dies?
33·19 hours agoWhere NOTHING dies? That’s going to make meal prep super awkward.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's a TV series that you really, really liked and would enthusiastically recommend?
1·19 hours agoI think it’s merited for 2 reasons:
- The sudden shift from Sinclair to Sheridan. Sheridan is walking into all this blind, so it’s a good intro to new viewers.
I feel bad about it, I know the actor had severe mental health issues which required the change, but the jump is a little jarring.
- You don’t REALLY appreciate Season 1 until you get through the rest of it, then it kind of all just clicks into place. It’s definitely planting seeds, but those seeds don’t sprout until seasons 2 and 3.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's a TV series that you really, really liked and would enthusiastically recommend?
111·20 hours agoLost up until Season 6.
Walking Dead up until Negan.
Firefly, all of it.
Babylon 5, start with Season 2-3-4 then go back to 1.
Really enjoying “From”. But there’s a drinking game:
Every time someone asks “Hey, are you OK?” the answer is “Naw, man, I’m pretty fuckin’ FAR from OK.” and take a drink.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What honest and harmless test do you put on a potential date?
3·3 days agoOTOH - failing to tip in a culture where it is the norm and servers do depend on them, withholding tips is problematic. It all depends on how your date treats them.

101·3 days agoNot a test, but a marker of character.
How do they treat “the help”? Do they greet the waitress? Do they tip? How they treat other people indicates how they will treat you.

155·4 days agoWeird, I recently bought that same phone and did not have that problem. Why?
“Do you want to transfer your files from another device?”
No.
Just no. I don’t need your help, I can do this myself. Previous phone is backed up to my NAS, I can restore what I want from there.
I see a new phone as an opportunity to leave stuff behind. It’s on the NAS if I REALLY need it.

Genius!
I’m sure CoPilot in the cloud already took that into account though and goes off on all sorts of tangents with the user disconnected.
What could possibly go wrong?
