Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft announces sweeping Windows changes - but no apologiesEnglish
962·1 month agoI believe the MacBook Neo was a real wake-up call for management. Apple dominates the high-budget market. Now that Apple has entered the low-budget market, it could threaten their market share, as well as Copilot’s.

Technology@lemmy.world•Claude Code deletes developers' production setup, including its database and snapshots — 2.5 years of records were nuked in an instantEnglish
21·2 months agoGiven that the infrastructure description included the DataTalks.Club website, this resulted in a full wipe of the setup for both sites, including a database with 2.5 years of records, and database snapshots that Grigorev had counted on as backups. The operator had to contact Amazon Business support, which helped restore the data within about a day.
sigh, SNAPSHOTS ARE NOT BACKUPS!

62·2 months agoThis is an American mentality. In other parts of the world, they let kids be kids. They let them be. They’re human beings, whether the child is autistic or not.
Shocking them is torture.

Technology@lemmy.world•A ‘demoralizing' trend has computer science grads out of work — even minimum wage jobs. Are 6-figure tech careers over?English
63·7 months agoI believe the problem is that people feel entitled to a job with a six-figure salary just because they paid for an expensive college education. College has this air of excellence.
But then, reality sets in. Knowledge is nice, of course, but practical experience is key. You need to know how to act in the real world.

6·7 months agoPiefed/Lemmy/Fediverse: freedom from capitalist tyranny. True organic, human communities.
Reddit is cyberpunk. It’s a world governed by a corporation that acts as its government and only cares about its shareholders, not its citizens.
