14·1 day agoThe thing with therapists is that you need to find one that works for you, but that also takes experience.
But I think that if you avoid Christian counselors, you’ll more likey avoid that. My experience with Christian ones is that they tend to be more on the side of making you look the part rather than being your true self, since you know, your true self is despicable in the eyes of God and all.
I think it you can afford it, going over these things with a professional can help you work through things or help you identify how that’s affected you in ways you may not have thought.
and remember, you can always change therapists (just avoid changing because they challenge you)

Programming@programming.dev•[Blog Post] - Longhorn's Backup Cost Savings – or not getting surprise billsEnglish
1·7 days agoI made an edit to the blog. It looks like that approach didn’t work.
Summary for those who want the tl;dr - I found a github issue where someone “solved” it by blocking network access to longhorn outside of the backup hours. I am now trying that approach with cron jobs to set and remove an egress policy to block access.
Hopefully this will solve it.

4·10 days agoI know a few guys and even a dating coach who did that when it came around. The common thing that they said was that they didn’t like how they felt doing it. They also noticed that at the end of the techniques, there was just you, and you would get found out.
Now the common trend is for authenticity and openness/vulnerability. In addition to approaching and that sort of stuff, it’s less about learning a technique and more about the other positive things.

20·13 days agoI saw something where they took an old WWII vet, with psychologists and others, to a city that he had fought in that gave him PTSD nightmares for decades. He was scared to go back, but when he did, his PTSD went away because he saw how changed everything was and you couldn’t tell that the war had happened. That allowed him to recognize that the danger was gone and over.
that’s very different from revisiting a place that something bad happened just because, though. This was 40 years later in a city that was rubble when he last saw it.

5·23 days agooh, I was not implying the snap was a GOOD alternative 😂

I went to an interview for a company in the west coast and I was in central time. the recruiter told me that they had core hours and I’d have some flexibility. one of the first questions was whether I was willing to work Pacific time, which I wasn’t, especially since it wasn’t the best paying job in the world. That interview lasted about 30 seconds.
