Q4 2024 was before all the overt nazi shit.
But I agree that calling it dead is premature.
realharo@lemm.eeto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What hyped thing did you fall for that you now regret and have to live with?7·4 months agoThe killer VR app for me is golf games. GOLF+ and Walkabout Minigolf. It’s a great way for me to keep in touch with my parents who live in a different city. It’s like a better version of a phone/video call every once in a while (and at $350 with the better headstrap, it’s not too expensive for a present)
Ironically this is where the Quest absolutely destroys the Vision Pro, which doesn’t have any VR golf (or even minigolf) games as far as I can tell.
VR headsets are basically multiplayer golf simulators to me. Which makes the Vision Pro a golf simulator that doesn’t have golf.
realharo@lemm.eeto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What hyped thing did you fall for that you now regret and have to live with?7·4 months agoWith foam mattresses, you need to look at the density of the high-resilience foam (HR foam) that they use. Generally the higher it is, the firmer the mattress will be and less prone to sagging.
It also means it will be a lot heavier and difficult to move around. If the density info is not provided, you can just look for ones they claim are for people who are heavier than your own weight.

realharo@lemm.eeto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you have kids? Do you want to have kids? Did you regret having / not having kids?9·6 months agoNo kids, no regrets, at 34. Life is already stressful enough with instability around housing and long-term career prospects (what with AI affecting jobs and such). With kids in the picture, I feel like that anxiety would just be ten times worse.

Russia makes threats with nukes, because a country they attacked dares to defend itself
lemmy.ml: Why would the US do this?
The notion that Russia doesn’t need to invade or make nuclear threats is completely unthinkable around these parts.
If you just analyze the 1000 most recent posts on the local worldnews, it’s pretty openly a propaganda channel.

US and Taiwan both are perfectly happy with the status quo, they would be the last people to start any wars there.

It’s no different than complaining that the competition has a better/cheaper product and people are not buying yours.

https://www.yicaiglobal.com/news/a-quarter-of-china-city-dwellers-rent-survey-shows - same website that your wikipedia link lists as source
But none of that is relevant to the article of this post. That article talks about money to complete unfinished projects. It’s in the very first paragraph. There are people who took out loans to buy pre-construction apartments with plans to live there, who are now in trouble.
realharo@lemm.eeto World News@lemmy.ml•China Rejects $1 Trillion Housing Rescue Plan Pitched by IMF45·11 months agoBut the article is specifically talking about unfinished projects.
So you don’t have a flat to live in either, you have an abandoned construction site.
realharo@lemm.eeto Technology@lemmy.world•What Neuralink is missing (it turns out that connecting brains with computers is the easy part)English1·1 year agoThere are many different types of capacitors, most of which don’t contain any liquid at all (including the most common type - ceramic capacitors).
But in general, you would use specially rated components and materials if you need them to last decades - not the cheapest most basic parts you can find.
Other types of implanted devices have dealt with the same things decades ago.

10 months is not enough to reliably starve them out, not even in sealed storage. There is still some risk.
