RDP is kind of limited because it’s a virtual session. It’s useful if you only need to do stuff while you’re actively connected but you can’t, for example, remote in and start an app or process going and then disconnect and have that app continue. When you d/c your profile is essentially logged out. Your activity also can’t be viewed by a user on the remote system, if you needed to collaborate or assist somehow.

UltraVNC has worked ok for me for windows systems. It has some of that open-source clunk to the UI, but is pretty straight forward and does what I need.

It might partly be that a lot of what is designed for a screen is made deliberately to be maximally appealing to begin with.

For example a film or tv show is shot with various lenses that create pleasing depth of field, color and light is carefully controlled. Same with high fidelity video games. Even the UI of your applications is made to be appealing and clean.

Sports are sort of shot like films too, and often the cameras can resolve much higher detail than our eyes alone can. The way a sports event is shot in high def can be like gaining the visual abilites of a hawk or something. The lens can zoom in close while our eyes can only squint.

Biden is basically a guarunteed loss, so anyone advocating Biden when there’s the possibility of replacing him with someone who polls better, like Harris, want a dem loss. It’s really that simple.

There aren’t enough pep talks or backhanded memes that will change Biden’s inability to drive out voters.

I’m not sure about dystopian stories, but I think the big appeal with post-apocalyptic and disaster stories is the fantasy of being able to start society over from scratch. To get a fresh start at a scale where the individual has a stronger influence on whatever group they’re part of.

I think as real life society becomes more complicated, oppressive and individuals lose their sense of agency, those kinds of stories become more popular.
