Sounds like the phenomenon is you being the luckiest bastard under the sun!
I can currently hold down a key (del or f12?) when powering on to choose between the Linux disk and the Windows disk, that’s my current dual-boot setup. I also installed each one with the other disk disconnected. I remember the Windows update rebooting into Linux unless I interrupted it too.
You say Windows was on a separate drive, but then you talk about dual booting. Do you mean that Windows was on another partition on a shared drive, or do you have two separate hard drives?
I assumed dual booting just means having multiple OSs installed, does it specifically mean having them on the same disk? I have separate disks, so hopefully no need for partitioning shenanigans.
What problem are you trying to solve?
Partly redundancy, if I mess up one then I’ve still got the other; partly for supporting people, I’ve set up non-techies on both and I want to be able to load up the same system myself when I need to help them.

I read a good post a while back about how even though your classic d&d world looks like mediaeval Europe, it behaves much more like the wild west. Rephrase this post to “imagine you’re in the saloon and a group of armed cowboys roll in…” and suddenly it all makes sense again!
I’d re-caption this to be from the DM’s point of view, something like when you drop a PC with an unexpected crit and they crit-fail their death saves
Zero. My cheap old LCD TV has a SCART and an RF in, that’s all I need!

3·1 month agoIf I had the power to mount a legal challenge against a megacorp, I would. Unfortunately all I have the power to do is share workarounds.
“Whew, I’m gonna need a breather after taking that last breath”
This is absolute poetry. FFS, our bodies are such absolute half-baked hack-jobs that we can’t even honk properly.

12·1 month agoI don’t have a general opinion, but given that youtube used to be an entirely free service that people put videos on with no expectation of being paid, and then google bought it, made it an effective monopoly, and have slowly turned it into the monetisation monster it is today, I don’t think anyone owes them anything.
Also you have the right to control what content appears on your device. You are under no obligation to watch an advert just because a megacorp says so. By putting something on the internet (without a login or pay wall) they are making it freely available for anyone to download. That’s how the internet works (for now!)

5·2 months agoGrapheneOS has strict requirements about hardware being secure enough, so if existing Motorola phones were secure enough then they’d already be supported. This is presumably about future devices that Motorola are going to build.

This is even considered intended behaviour, so it’s a vital part of an any% glitchless speedrun.
And if you have fond memories of gen 1 then watch some speedruns with commentary, the level of shenanigans you can pull in these games are very impressive.
