Didn’t expect a 13, Rue del Percebe reference in Lemmy of all places.

The reason I did it like this is because:

• I didn’t know yay could invoke pacman
• I didn’t want yay “upgrading” my pacman packages with AUR packages.

But I was just misunderstanding yay. As another comment said before you, one can just run yay without any arguments and it accomplishes the same thing.

I just aliased “sudo pacman -Syu && yay -Syu --aur” to “update” cause I got tired of writing it every day.

Searxng! You can self-host it, but I just use a public instance, there are tons you can find out there. You can also install a firefox extension¹ to be able to use it directly as your default search engine :)

¹ you don’t need to download an extension, you can just go to a site, right click on the address bar and add it to firefox/librewolf as a custom search engine, as per these instructions.

Google is just a search engine, the sites you find with it may or may not be trustworthy.

…unless you use their AI crap, idk, I haven’t used Google for years.
