  • You can make banane flambée !

    • Split the bananas length-wise as good as possible, they should split in 3.
    • lay them done in a pan
    • heat it until hot, no need to cook them too much
    • sprinkle with powdered sugar
    • prepare a shitshot glass of brown rhum and some matches (or lighter)
    • pour the shot on the bananas and light it on fire !!! 🔥
    • turn of the heat, let it extinguish buy itself

Et voilà ! You have delicious caramelized banana desert!

  • This may be a simple coincidence. Maybe you had similar YouTube suggestions in the past but you didn’t pay attention because they come at random times. Like if you drive a Honda Civic, you tend to spot all the Honda Civic in the street.

There would be an interesting experiment to make though:

    1. Take a snapshot of your YouTube recommandations
    2. Choose a subject that has nothing to do with any of the recommandations, let’s say “travel to the Bahamas”
    3. Hold a conversation with someone with both your phone’s present, mention several time going to the Bahamas.
    4. Check YouTube again, si if the topic of Bahamas is appearing.
    5. Choose another topic not covered by your recommendations, let’s say collecting stamps
    6. Put your phones away, have a conversation about collecting stamps
    7. Check YouTube recommandations

  • Fedora is a very solid, no nonsense distro. It gives you a vanilla Linux experience, with sane defaults out of the box. You get major updates every 6 month shipping newer version of the core stuff (kernel, desktop environment, etc). The Fedora community is dedicated to deliver a reliable OS and tests a lot before shipping updates.

It’s my favorite desktop/laptop distro for many years.

However, there are a couple a pitfalls to avoid. If you go for it, follow some beginners guide to get you sorted out with things like codecs and proprietary drivers. E.g: Things to do after installing Fedora 40 - itsfoss.com I would definitely recommend to do steps 2, 3, 4 and 5 from this guide.

Ardour is definitely professional grade, but I must say that it’s far from simple to setup. First, you may not have the latest version available in you SW repository and you would have to compile it yourself! Then, despite all the progress brought by pipewire, audio config in Linux is complicated and unreliable, especially for this time of work, requiring different audio devices, MIDI control interfaces and VSTs.

I am not an audio professional, I’m an amateur, and found myself demotivated by the amount of work required until I am ready to create music, and finally gave up :(

  • I use Duplicity to backup my home directory, excluding Steam and Downloads folders. It is setup to backup weekly to my NAS mounted as NFS. The NAS has a weekly cron task to upload the backups to pCloud using rclone. I backup this way, several computers (2 desktop, 2 laptop, the NAS as well). The files included in this strategy are essentially my photos, documents and configs. My software installations, games, media library are not backed up.
