ye, worst outcome would be that you compliment a little baby whos to stupid to have their own thoughts on their “work”. but who really cares about them, it is still better to falsely accusing an actual artist of using ai.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are alternative to searching using web search engines?English
2·11 days agoThank you for the link, had a conversation the other day talking about what our game plan is when search engines become even more useless. I feel we really go full circle with this one.
Here is an active codeberg repo curating german Amazon alternatives: https://codeberg.org/phranck/Amazon-Alternativen
It is. After development broke down in 2022 development is more active than it ever was. https://blogs.igalia.com/mrego/servo-2025-stats/ I have a binary on my machine and use it for light browsing every now and then just to check in how things are going. Its “usable” for that but would not use it for banking even if it worked.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Whats something new thats actually good?English
2·13 days agoTo be fair I have only focused on the positives. We also have our fair share of empty high rise apartment buildings nobody can afford and a district which gets totally neglected and has not seen any bigger investments in years.

16·14 days agoLove the question! Urban infrastructure. At least in my city. I get super stocked whenever I see a new construction site. Not only because I get the feeling that the tax money is actually being used but also because these projects are more often than not really cool. Wider pedestrian spaces, third places and just safer more pleasant areas. Sometimes they only do it half heartedly and didn’t thought about something but the direction is the right one. Of course this is easily done especially considering how hostile they made city’s after ww2, i’m still happy about it though. :)

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Anyone have any experience with gmx.com e-mail service?English
5·14 days agoSome relatives still have it, it’s filled to the brim with advertisements which i guess if the catch. I mean the web interface is, you don’t have it when using imap of course. It’s still a dealbreaker for me.
Not really from the grounds up as it uses WebKit.
Used it very shorty on a mac, but as it really is very similar to safari there is little to no reason to use it.
On a linux maybe, but i think i will stay on firefox until servo is usable. (Which is actually being made from the grounds up)

Technology@lemmy.world•Apple to Soon Take Up to 30% Cut From All Patreon Creators in iOS AppEnglish
5·19 days agoThis sums the problem up fairly nicely I think. I do wonder with Apple being a gatekeeper by EUs own definition and unfair sales terms supposed to be history with the Digital Markets Act in place this can’t go through, right!!! at least not in the EU… assuming they do their job.

851·19 days agoThat’s how the system works. You don’t expect Walmart to not get a commission when you sell something at their store.
30% is reasonable. DEAL WITH IT.
Don’t like it? Make your own phone and platform.
Opening up the comments on macrumors never disappoints me :)

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why can people see who upvotes and who downvoted post on Lemmy?English
2·21 days agoYeah, i like the concept of crowd-sourced curation as well and it it’s a privilege to not be in much need of it right now. If the community grows too large and so the spam we are receiving a voting system might be the knight in shining armor.
I still would then hide the score though. So maybe don’t scrap the whole voting system but just hide the score behind some menus per default so the sorting algorithm can still be transparent.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are your favourite internet radio stations?English
3·21 days agoNot solely an internet radio, but i believe they were steaming since day one on the web. No commercials, with djs live on air and music from a wide range of genres. (They do have recurring shows though so you can tune in if there’s something you are interested in) Discovered a ton of great music and artists through them, they really have a great mix.
https://byte.fm/ - they talk german btw.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•If the 2028 election was held today, who would you vote for?English
51·21 days agoDo not live in the states, but have the feeling that with all the ICE killing going on (media makes it seem rather serious) it would have been a reduction of violence if democrats had won ‘24.
Also I do wonder aren’t there no smaller parties that might even be considered good? Sure they would not win by a long shot, it’s still a vote taken from fascists.

fixed the neighbors business card.
