Californian here. I used to do birthday parties as a clown or costume character, the parents were almost invariably drunk. Often incredibly so.

SoCal, maybe an hour away from San Diego. East County is a white supremacy hotspot. It’s all rich white fucks who crow loudly about hating California but stay and make our lives miserable because red states are shit holes and they know it.
Those people have proven themselves to not be worthy of a relationship. Those people should be shunned for being inhumane monsters, not welcomed back into society. They will not change. They hate me and the people I love. I, and I assume many others like me, will never forgive, and never forget. And they will not stop. Even if we win the election, we will not have beaten them. This will only escalate until we beat them back and crush their ideology.
Bottled water and prepping the generator. I fully expect the racist fucks out here to cause real problems, regardless of outcome. We already have daily parades of giant lifted trucks covered in Trump flags doing burnouts and screaming the n-word at people. In 2020 we had some protesting high school kids get attacked and beaten by adult Trump supporters, cops looked the other way. My town has a giant painting of a Nazi on its largest building, which is a Mason hall. I hate this place.
The gentle thrum of a Federation starship’s warp core.
This… Explains a lot. I gotta go drown in hops now.
I do this as a joke with basically all of my friends who are in hetero relationships.
“I’m gonna spend the evening with the wife and kids, sorry.”
“Gay!”
I would assume the US, and probably somewhere rural. I’m an hour outside a major CA city and it’s like 70% functionally illiterate racists. They are not fans of books.
My work setup is close to that, I use a 43 inch 4k. Each quadrant is effectively a 22 inch HD display. But I still have a second HD monitor because sometimes you need that logical separation. I tried 2 43 inch monitors but it made my neck hurt, lol.
My gaming rig is two ultrawides stacked on top of each other with vertical HD monitors on each side.
Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes! Learn how bad at communication you really are!
I don’t think I could ever go back to a single monitor setup. Screen real estate is ALWAYS at a premium. I feel so constrained when forced to use just one.
A different take: Metropolis, and Gotham, and of course Earth-616’s New York City are where our pantheons live. Larger than life characters meant to tell allegorical stories about cultural values. And every red-blooded American knows that Superman stands for Truth and Justice, Spider-Man is a selfless hero of the people, and that Batman is a billionaire psychopath who uses violence to address mental health issues, his own and society in general. That last one’s not great but it is quite American. Zeus was a bestiality-themed rapist, so I mean shades of grey or whatever, lol.
Kokomo. It’s just the worst.
As many have said, our National Parks are incredible, and even outside of them most of the western US is pretty awe-inspiring. I live in a place where, within an hour or two, I can go to desert badlands, alpine forests, coastal tide pools, and even skiing resorts for decent chunks of the year. I was recently up at 11k ft altitude in the Sierras and at -250 ft in Death Valley a few hours apart. The US is HUGE and big parts of it are still very wild. It’s something worth fighting to preserve.
Edit: Also we can’t read, I am American. Look, I didn’t say the education system was good.
Real talk, I want to try Guix but I have not successfully installed it on any hardware, including VMs. This includes with nonguix for proprietary drivers and stuff. I can never get past install, it always just craps out on some substitution thing. Am I just stupid?
The Greatest Generation - Star Trek rewatch podcast. Rekindled my love for the greatest franchise in history. Hosts approach the show from a tv production background
Spout Lore - the best real-play podcast, in my opinion. Dungeon World with incredible world building despite almost everyone being named Greg
Blank Check with Griffin and David - film analysis from the film critic for the Atlantic and Arthur from the Tick / Orko / Watto, covering a director’s entire filmography each series
Marvel by the Month - Reading every Marvel comic, one month at a time. Has a gaggle of comic book industry legends as regular guests, talks about the context in which the comics were written, theme and interstitial music are bangers
I never see Cultist Simulator recommended but it’s one of my favorites. It really captures the idea of studying the esoteric arts, and has a surprising amount of world building given how simple the presentation is.
