If you missed the drama, conservative community on LW got “repurposed” by the admins of that instance, and is now a trolling space.

And honestly, I’m surprised it took them so long. Their censorship, after all, was one of the reasons for creating this instance. Nobody should be surprised by censorship from liberals, their ideology cannot survive without censorship, freedom of speech is their biggest enemy.

Our instance grows. Slowly but steadily (unfortunately, sometimes I have to decline new applications because people don’t read the rules).

So I want to encourage people here to start creating local communities. Take an active part in resisting censorship. Please don’t start a “reverse censorship” though, we should strive for an open and civil discussion, not another echo-chamber. Everyone, even liberals should be welcome here (as long as they can survive in a no-censorship environment).

    I’m late to this post, so now just reading it, but totally agree with you! I remember that drama. So lemmy.world is so big on hating censorship, thinking everyone should be accepted. But I guess that only extends to people who are libreral? Because they defintely don’t feel that way if someone isn’t a Democrat. They don’t even see the hypocrisy of their ways when they let that community be taken over and turned into a meme community.

    Loving your instance here. And I love that we have a libertarian instance. I just wish we had better candidates in the libertarian party! lol

    But my local city had a really great libertarian candidate that I voted for. He’s all for us starting in minor elections and working our way up. He lost, but great ideas. Hopefully we get more. Especially as more and more divides grow between the Democrats and Republicans.

      Yep. Whenever someone points it out, the response is always the same, something like “well, THEY [bad guys] are censoring the truth, but WE [good guys] are just removing misinformation”.
