This is a tactic by oneplus and others. Basically, they force the phone to run at near max speeds when running benchmark apps. Mine used to clear all apps when Antutu was launched.
If they want to check, they can change the package name and see if it does the same or its just popular benchmark apps.
Plus, there can be other workloads like local image generation, running local LLM to see how it does for extended periods of time.
this was my impression too, a failed attempt at cheating benchmarks by trying to not throttle or raising the power limit too high
