  • Interesting, this is my own theory so take it with a grain of salt. But I think everyone has wild confusion with the subject of the minds eye. We are all just recalling things, it’s the same thing.

I believe the difference between 1-5 is much smaller than online discussing would make us think.

I can “see the apple” and I can “feel it crunch” but not actually. I’m just recalling the “idea” of those sensations.

If I stare off in my environment, I can place the apple on a table, I can “pick it up” but there is no apple. I’m simply recalling what it feels like to take that action, or what I would think based on previous experiences it would feel like.

I don’t think anyone is able to legitimately hallucinate things into their reality (within reason of course haha, mental conditions and such) and I always leave these discussions feeling like people who align with 5 think 1’s can legitimately create objects in their reality.

But I can only experience my mind, so we will probably never have a solid answer to this.

I would also be very interested to know if people who align with 5 are able to “train” themselves up the scale.

Uhh, I hear people complaining about those services all the time, see Air BnB.

Regardless, a rental car or hotel is not a living requirement like a semi-permanent home is. Definitely comparing apples to oranges here.

You can acknowledge the benefits to renting while also acknowledging it’s an unbelievably toxic and abused system that profits off the poor for the gain of the rich.

Until everyone is housed, no one should be profiteering off thoes that aren’t.

  • It’s comments like this that make me think I don’t have ADHD and I’m just a bit slow.

My therapist says I’m likely ADHD and I align with a lot in this thread, but this description is about 1000% more dramatic than my day to day life. I guess it’s all a spectrum, but I’ve never felt like I’m living in a fog, I’m very very aware of all of the things I’m fucking up, but my mind doesn’t tell my body it’s worth fixing yet.

I never “forget” to finish a task, I remember that task needs to get done every 5 mins after I leave it not finished and it pains me to look at it every time I walk by it. But there are more important things to do. Like scrolling Lemmy or IG.

New to the Linux community here; why is a valve owned Linux OS better than any other massive company OS. Like if Microsoft released their own Linux OS, would it be good suddenly?

At the end of the day, we don’t want our OS’s big company owned right?

  • Simply put, I need to buy groceries.

It’s not that I will have issues learning or researching, it is that I don’t have the time too.

If the barrier to using Linux is needing to spend time troubleshooting and researching to do simple tasks, I just won’t.

So far this thread has been very enlightening to me, I’m excited to try something new. But my OS is not my hobby.
