FPTP voting system
Voting isn’t compulsory so a lot depends upon on riling up your base
Voting is on a Tuesday instead of a weekend (or a public holiday)
Political parties draw up the electoral boundaries instead of an independent body
The absurdly long leadup to an election
The amount of money thrown around
…I withdraw my question.
In episode 2F09, when Itchy plays Scratchy’s skeleton like a xylophone, he strikes that same rib twice in succession yet he produces two clearly different tones. I mean, what are we, to believe that this is some sort of a, a magic xylophone or something? Boy, I really hope somebody got fired for that blunder.
You can trace it back as least as far as Barry Goldwater and the rise of right-wing “think-tanks” in the 1960s which came as a backlash to the civil rights movement and the perceived dominance of left-wing politics in government. Which led to Nixon’s “Southern Strategy”, right-wing talk radio, Fox News, and the ongoing brainwashing of much of rural America in particular.
I don’t think Bush ever sunk to the depths of the Hitler-like rhetoric that Trump and his cronies have been using, however. Maybe the guardrails will hold if Trump wins again (or loses again) but this is not normal.
Non-voters are complicit in what is happening. Maybe saying they are as bad is a stretch, but they clearly either don’t care or are ignorant about it.
In Rand McNally, people wear hats on their feet and hamburgers eat people!
And the software ecosystem, much of which they have funded/developed. In 2015, there was no proton, no DXVK, no vkd3d, and most important, no Vulkan.
paperless-ngx, after having to turn my apartment upside down to find some paper documents.
Userbenchmark have a long running grudge against AMD. I’m not sure why, but they therefore aren’t a trustworthy source.
Beyond moderation, Phoronix is a case study in why downvotes are a good thing. Those idiots going on dumb tangents would continue, while the rest of us can read the actual worthwhile comments (which does happen, given AMD employees and the like comment there sometimes).
four- or five-episode series.
It was six episodes. That’s how much was needed to cover how much of a piece of shit Vince is.
Popularity has little to do with quality. And that applies to iMessage as much as WhatsApp, Facebook, or any of the other communication channels that dominate due to network effects and switching costs.
I’d say all people can benefit from different types of workout. Like flexibility training and yoga is more likely to be done by women but if you don’t want to start making old man sounds every time you sit down by age 30, it’s a good idea.
Similarly, women can benefit from strength training as much as men, particularly since they have a greater loss in muscle mass into old age (causing other health problems). And despite stereotypes, you’re not going to become huge just from lifting heavy weights (and a middle aged man is not going to become a lithe gymnast just from flexibility training).
Electric cars will certainly be quieter at low speed but they will still be noisy at higher speed due to tire noise dominating. Lower speed limits in cities would help here significantly.
Pretty much every first party Nintendo game, especially Mario and the Zelda series. I’ve had some enjoyment from the 2D era Zelda games at least, but have yet to finish any of them as they just don’t seem to hold my attention.
I’ll reserve my judgement on the most recent Zelda game as I understand it’s quite different from the classic 3D and 2D games, but I don’t have any particular desire to give Nintendo money given their increasingly lawyer heavy behaviour.
It’s important if you want to understand how the world works on a deeper level. There’s a reason that all scientific research is primarily presented in the written form.
Although I assume OP is talking about fiction which is a different matter.
