As an American I support this move. Every fucking day they should have to answer for why we lost the very fucking symbol of freedom.

    Ngl I love this energy.

I’m very serious when I say this: France should make this a core part of their foreign relations strategy with the US for as long as orangeboi keeps talking and perhaps planning to try to take over Greenland and Canada. It’s both hilarious and deeply appropriate.

I love the thought of one of the new french submarines sneaking over, tying a big rope aroud the statue, and towing it home.

What’s even funnier is that the MEP in question was (probably falsely) accused of being paid by the CIA to be a pro-american mole in the French Left last year

I don’t know the story, but if I were a CIA plant I’d do something similar. It’s loud and obnoxious, but it’s just a gesture and it wouldn’t actually hurt my bosses.

Wait 4 years. Be patient. He barely won and he mostly won due to people not voting.

    Edit

Many people are under the influence that you shouldn’t act while you wait. I see why it looks like that’s what I am saying, but it is not. You must act. And believe in yourself that you can make a difference. You have to act and not be passive. BUT France does NOT need to pick silly battles with America over a statue. Focus on the right issue at hand

the world is not going back. we waited 4 years last time, sighed with relief, and said “thank fuck that’s enough of that”

      … and here we are

the trust is lost; there are no more chances

It’s wild to have any faith that they’ll give up any power. Even on the actual slim chance that Trump leaves the white house peacefully if anyone they deem not the right candidate they’ll just claim the election was rigged. This is just how it is now.

It’ll be a battle. But a battle for the American people, not the French. In the meantime, there are things to do to empower Europe’s defense, not to pick fights over the statue of liberty with America. You must have faith in yourself, in the people that what we do will make a difference

No, unfortunately Trump is destroying major parts of how America works. But take action, believe in the cause. Patience will be a must, to restore america after all of this. If you allow yourself to feel defeated, the “flooding of the zone” has won. The other side, whatever you choose to call them, has won long time ago.

agree. we will have to actively repair gerrymandering and voter disenfranchisement and supression on our local levels if we want change via voting.

not sure we’ll get that without some Direct Action™

even then, with the going rate of an hour of work being such shit, mostly only cash-addicts end up running for office… Hard to keep it fair and honest when almost everyone is threatened with hunger, homelessness, and super mean imprisonment if they can’t maintain the finicky contractual approval of a land-owner.

We have this year to fix it, hopefully, if enough people do whatever they can, or at least stop mainlining the red fascist or blue enabler koolaid.

        think globally, act locally, etc.

I expect in those 4 years, irreparable damage will have been done to Americas reputation and social security structure. Minds will have been propaganda’d into accepting their new reality.

That is even if elections take place in 4 years. I totally expect a Putin style reign with the 2 term limit abolished or just plain ignored.
