Since Diaper Donnie is soon going to be rubbing his hands in glee to send Americans now into his meat grinder over wars he starts, how do you plan to avoid the draft?

I’m too old to join, thank god. Too old and too out of shape for them to bother caring. Plus a lot of psychological issues that will make me more likely shoot my superior that’s telling me I need to kill innocents to help king pedo succeed in his bullshit missions.

German here, so provably not applicable as it was 17 years ago (jeez) and a climate when they were just getting rid of it (only to reintroduce it again this year)

I avoided “Wehrdienst” by rolling in hungover with sunglasses and a Hawaiian shirt, botching their written test and telling them how much I enjoy going to leftist demonstrations and how I can’t wait to hold a weapon in my hand.

I think they don’t enjoy the idea of arming and training leftists.

I mean it’s literally as simple as claiming your trans. Trump was legit pissed at Hegsath cuz somehow Trump is smarter than him and knew people would do that if Hegsath banned trans people from the military.

There’s a lot of assumptions going on here. First of all, historically 26 wasn’t the maximum for the draft but 40, but secondly there’s really no rules for a draft. A draft is already so much of an encroachment on one’s human rights and legal rights that all bets are off should one be declared. Sure there’ll be court orders and legal battles over it but we’ve seen how that goes already with the current administration, they’ll simply delay and ignore while shuffling as many humans out of reach as possible until they can’t anymore.

Best thing any of us can do is simply hope for the best. My personal hopes are, in order of declining positivity:

    • There is no draft
    • I’m either too old or too autistic to be drafted
    • I can go back to college to be ineligible to be drafted
    • I can find myself a non-combat role given my technical expertise
    • Whatever happens happens and I’ll figure out how to survive and thrive like I have every other challenge that’s come my way in life

There’s really no other planning for such an eventuality. There’s too many unknowns you can plan for, and while I’m seeing plenty of folks talking about fragging, taking drugs or establishing a false history of drug abuse, transitioning, etc. the fact is there’s no telling what will happen nor what the legal landscape will look like

It’s funny how a small group of people can make 99% of the world do heinous things they don’t necessarily want to do but the masses rarely fight back. Tyrants will never be afraid when they know nobody will ever do anything effective against them. Noone can convince me we aren’t already in at least the first ring of hell based on how fucked up this world is.

If you haven’t read about the Milgram Experiment, it’s a fascinating, and disheartening journey into notions of authority and compliance. In short… Milgram’s finding was that most people do what they’re told–even when they known it’s wrong–simply because they’re told to do it.

I have read about it and I have issues with it, at least the original study. The participants signed up for an experiment run by a Yale professor so I’m sure a lot of them didn’t think this would cause serious damage if any damage in reality. The participants signed up knowing they would get paid.

Not that money would excuse them for “harming” people but in combination with what would appear to be a professionally run experiment by a reputable school, I don’t think people would necessarily assume this was some kind of actual murder room.

Now if the experiment was to give randomly selected participants off the street a gun and tell them to shoot a puppy for no money, I think the results would differ.

I definitely think this experiment has issues, but I think the reasons you mentioned make it more applicable to the military though not other scenarios. Bc soldiers are meant to obey orders above all else. Their commanders aren’t random people, they’re meant to be the authorities who know what’s a war crime and what’s not. Now, obviously that’s not true, or if they do know they don’t necessarily give a shit, but this all sets up a permission structure that it’s “okay” to follow orders even if it seems kinda wrong

Autist here, i refuse orders on principle, the only way people can get me to do anything is to have me decide that i agree on doing so.

My expectations if i was ever forced in a military setting would be to get punished for Insubordination at a constant rate, i assume to get beaten, locked up, be given the extra shitty food (which i just wouldn’t eat).

When it comes to being put under pressure i have a lifetime of experience. They can hurt, torture me all they want but will never rule over my independent thoughts.

I am no hero, nor a vigilante but simply holding on to what i know is right is what gives me strengt. And while i expect coming out bruised, broken and traumatised it will stil not be close to the horrors my own mind will inflict on me for going against my nature.

Whether I would actually shoot someone giving me orders, depends on the person, the context and the orders. But chances are they will already know i am more trouble then worth something to them and wont be handed a weapon.

insubordination in time of war generally means court marshall and life in prision or execution under extreme circumstances.

Its one thing to say you will do it and another to do it and accept the unknown but likely extremely bad repercussions.

Its another thing to literally be so autistic that the extremely bad repercussions simply don’t matter.

It wouldn’t really be a choice on my part. If society finds my existence so offensive they execute me for it thats a problem for their conscious not mine, i will die some day anyway and i am content to do so for not betraying what i know is right.

Feels bad for my family though but being an example of making unethical compromises is worse.

Isn’t it the logical thing to do?

I mean, actually killing the innocent is out of the question. Shrug.

So what are my options, what can I do?

        1. If I sit there and do nothing, that boss shoots me, and then he simply orders the next one to kill the innocent. No good option.

        2. If I kill myself, the same as above.

        3. Only if I kill that boss, then the source of the trouble is fixed. The only option to fix it.

No, I am not in a position to try it out. Much too old and much too far away from Usa.

Not of age, I got through the “draft period” during GWB. The US probably won’t have a draft, mainly because we have a sizeable “volunteer” military.

However, if I was drafted, I would talk to my draft board about how I’ve read books about fragging, and how all I can think about is how powerful that is, for one man with one weapon on the inside to destroy or disrupt the chain of command. Then do your best Private Pyle “Seven Six Two millimeter. Full Metal jacket!” imitation. The military doesn’t care about sending untrained and unqualified conscripts into an active war, but I doubt they will take someone who seems to have uncontrollable fantasies about shooting their own officer.

Take an opiate before I go in and nod out in the line or seat or interview or whatever.

Also talk about how you’ve had to be on the opiates to come to terms with figuring out that you might be a different gender.

Man if you go in there nodding out and drooling on the desk I feel like they’re not giving you a gun and you couldn’t go to basic training until you went through treatment you would tell them.

What’s there to prove? You showed up high AF on opiates and are very clearly (in their eyes) a drug addict if you do that.

Same principle as the weed doctor. You just need a therapist willing to sign off on whatever you tell them. Quite honestly it’s probably even easier than that, normal intake for drug abuse is a questionnaire about usage history.

So what all young men should be doing now is going to get drug abuse treatment just to get the intake paperwork done. Tell them you’ve been using since you were 13 and can’t stop. Give them a phone number one digit off from yours if you don’t want a phone call to remind you to come to treatment since you’re just trying to establish a history.

I’m too old, but remember doing this planning after 9/11. (FWIW, if it didn’t happen then, it’s really likely not going to happen now, but you never know. Always good to have a plan.) Here he’s some options:

First option: conscientious objectors are still allowed. Go join a Buddhist temple (treeleaf.org is an online one). But you have to commit. Be a member in good standing, take the precepts, actually participate. Similarly, you can be exempted if you’re a priest. Do you genuinely think that aliens are angels and that the alien god Raël is our savior? Great! Start a local Ralean church and start preaching. Do it on YT! Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster? Perfect! We need more Pastafarians to get it legally recognized in more states.

Second option: Mental Health Disqualifications. An ADHD diagnosis CAN sometimes be enough to get a deferral (but Petey might sign a blanket waiver). Gender dysphoria as well, and with this administration, they’re so trans-phobic that seems like a slam dunk (assuming there’s no trans gulag you’ll end up at). The important part to any mental health disqualification is treatment or meds in the last 12 months (24 months maybe).

Third option: Stay in school, kids. Regular university attendance still is ground for a deferral…today at least. Grad school? PhD program? Might be worth the application fee.

Fourth option: Leaving the country. A lot of people ended up in Canada during Vietnam. Digital nomad visas are easy to get in a lot of places. An alternative to this would be Peace Corps service, which would let you defer being drafted until your service is done. You can extend up to 5 years in the same country. Also a large number of people in PC during Vietnam. Considering it survived when USAID didn’t, I’d say anyone qualified might as well start applying now as it can take up to a year to a placement.

Last option: Be the sole income earner for your family. So marry someone - anyone - and be employed, preferably in an industry that won’t go away during a draft (sorry, DoorDash isn’t going to cut it). I had a grand parent who was a welder during WWII who wasn’t drafted based on this one.

For anyone considering transitioning to dodge the draft, please consider you may actually be transgender, approaching transition from a direction that relieves guilt over gender conformity is pretty common.
